cool photos … the action shots w/o flash are beautiful …
i guess watt is a peacemaker … wants everything to run smoothly and everyone to get along … that’s pretty cool …
the uk weather map is pretty accurate too !

cool ! i’d never seen that before …

wow ! that is a great review … finally a journalist who did some research and actually went to the show !!

oh dear ! sounds like the start of a rumour ! i wonder if luisa would be happy about that !!
December 20, 2002 at 3:10 pm in reply to: Asheton Asheton Mascis & Watt – Mean Fiddler 8/12/02 #84362thanks !
yeah … the t shirts are pretty cool … they’re white w/a logo that starts at the top w/2 A’s then an M and then a W
kind of like this :
A
M
Wbut all the letters are joined up at their points and in between the A’s and the M there’s a v.simple drawing of an eye w/a blue centre and v-shaped eveylashes and beneath all the letters it says ASHETON ASHETON MASCIS WATT
well worth 10 pounds ! but usually they sell t-shirts at the mean fiddler from the little hole in the wall near the coat room on the way out, so i don’t think most people knew they were actually being sold right next to the stage !
it was lucky that we hung around for a bit and as the crowd thinned we saw the t-shirt guy … i think he was j’s manager or something and he was super friendly and kind of funny … not at all bitter like a lot of t-shirt seller types are (some of them think they’re way cool b/c they’re w/the band – that type of mentality … ok my rant about that is over now
)and thanks for the hot tip on the album … it was flying cloud who 1st pointed it out a few weeks ago … and i was like, whoa ! where have i been ? i never knew it existed … well … it’s my last day of work for 6
days and who knows … maybe i’ll finally get to grips w/my scanner … maybe when the cabin-fever boredom of boxing day sets in ?
glad you guys had a great time
… and you were lucky enough to meet j and have a conversation w/him … no matter how "stupid"
keep that smile flying cloud !
:aliensmile:yeah … it seems like j isn’t as wary of meeting people as i thought he would be … is this a new thing for him or did he always used to do this ?… i remember reading a few articles that said he didn’t really interact w/people that much backstage at his own shows … but maybe the journalists were misinterpreting his laid-back behaviour or something ?? maybe he just didn’t like the journalists ?
December 16, 2002 at 4:39 pm in reply to: Asheton Asheton Mascis & Watt – Mean Fiddler 8/12/02 #84355wow wow wow wow WOW ! this show was so devastatingly good that i’ve been in a great mood all week long !!!! there was so – much – good – stuff to look at … the guys did such a good job … suffice to say the show was just amazing ….
and … i finally got a chance to give my present to j … yeah ! … it was freeeezing in london that night and it was about -7 or 8 C w/the wind chill factor … i think that’s around 20 degrees F … we got there early, but since it was sunday and all the shops close around 6 we decided to wait in the queue (from about 6.30) … there were only about 5 people in front of us, so we were right next to the front door … the doors were supposed to open at 7 (according to the tix and the sign on the door), but they kept us waiting and waiting for what seemed like an eternity b/c it was so cold …
finally about 7.15 this guy walks up to the front of the queue w/ a guitar in a hard purple case … he bangs on the metal doors, a security guy opens up the door and he says in an irish accent that he’s kevin’s (shields’ ?) brother and he has j’s guitar ! … the guy says hang on a sec … and comes back w/some manager type lady … who lets him in … then about 5 or 10 mins later the door opens again and we all are thinking YEAH !! they’re finally going to let us in just as the frostbite is setting in … and out walks j and ron and some other people who i didn’t recognize … one of the guys at the v.front of the queue runs over to j and asks him to sign some stuff … so my husband says go, go, go !! (we were thinking of chucking his present at him just before he started playing or just after — not a good plan, but we weren’t sure what else we could do…) but luckily it didn’t come to that b/c he was standing about 20 yards away … so i scooted over there … nervous as anything … quaking in my boots and praying to god my voice wouldn’t fail me (b/c when i get v.nervous it has a way of slowly getting quieter and quieter until nothing… which is kind of what happened when he played at the metro club and i asked him to sign my cd and i was so nervous the words didn’t really come out in anything but a whisper and eventually he got the idea when i waved the pen and cd in his general direction, but he definitely must have thought i was a retard or something) … anyhow … the reason he stuck around so long is b/c the guy in front of me had a cd cover for every album j’s ever done and then some !! … i’m not sure if he was going to sell these on ebay or if he was j’s biggest fan … but he had a stack of these and j dutifully signed them all w/a squiggly â€
cool photos … lots of different angles for one show !
happy belated birthday j …

can’t wait to read that interview !
December 12, 2002 at 2:35 am in reply to: Asheton Asheton Mascis & Watt – Mean Fiddler 8/12/02 #84351yep … the 1st guy was just a random guy from the crowd (he did "no fun"), but the 2nd guy (who was never introduced — he just came out from the backstage area) was definitely lou
… he really threw himself into it + he did a great job
December 10, 2002 at 2:19 am in reply to: Asheton Asheton Mascis & Watt – Mean Fiddler 8/12/02 #84342one of the guys in the queue in front of me said he had recorded primal scream and a,a,m + w the night before and he was also going to record the mean fiddler show … i guess i should have made friends w/him … but he seemed v.professional about it … his friend was too … so they didn’t seem v.friendly or approachable (just my 1st impression …. but …. if they’re reading this … maybe they’d consider sharing w/all of us ??)

wow !!
that’s pretty cool … hopefully he comes over to europe w/the fog too … anyone know who else is going to be in the fog this time around ??anyhow … i thought j didn’t like touring ?? … i don’t think he ever toured this much before … did he ? does anyone know ? has anyone asked him ?
