"Let it Be" is perhaps the Replacements’ finest moment ("Tim" is a close second). Westerberg has released some fucking great records lately . . . for example: the double album "Stereo/Mono" rules — the "Mono" disc is Westerberg’s alterego "Grandpaboy," and its really stripped down, raw rock recorded on a four track in his living room. "Come Feel Me Tremble" is also great, and that came out a few years back. "Folker" is okay, and I really don’t like the stuff he did for "Open Season." Anyhow, Paul Westerberg rules.

Not sure if they’ll make it. The reunion has certainly been well received and very lucrative, but I don’t know if I can see them making another LP. This isn’t to say that I don’t want them to do so (far from it, as a matter of fact). In all honesty, I kinda dig the tentativeness of Dinosaur’s future. makes it more exciting and rewarding to see them.

On a serious tip, Amherst and Northampton are small, relatively quiet towns with some okay record and book stores (Mystery Train, etc.), as well as some good restaurants.

Boston is definitely more action packed, and has more of the standard shopping/eating/sight-seeing dealio. If you have any interest in American history, you can hit up some key sights in Boston. If shopping is your jam, Newbury St has a bunch of stores that might interest you.

              Hi friends —

I have a homestead "Dinosaur Jr." copy on CD, and it has "Bulbs" on it. I was confused when I read an interview with J regarding the reissue, because he was like "Bulbs of Passion is a great song, so when I put together the extra material I wanted to list it first." I was like "Extra Material? I already have that jam!" So, I’m siding with the "Dinosaur" vs. "Dino Jr." theory.

yeah, good question! A friend of a friend ran into J and asked him, and apparently J said they broke up. I don’t know how reliable this dude is, though.

Good points all around. it just seemed strange to me, and still does, to avoid playing any NE shows on the first swing of the touring hammer. Maybe they’ll have some big, hometown release jimmy-jam or something.

                  One more thing:

im actually somewhat tempted. the only thing keeping me is the logical inanity of spending $ taking a train to nyc- spending $ to stay in a NYC hotel for 2-3 nights… taking 2-3 days off of work, which means -$…and paying $ for the shows on top of all that. im not sure, but i dont think i have the $ for that. they are probably the only band though id actually see 2-3 consecutive nights in a row though, so that isnt whats keeping me. practicality is.

i actually spoke to some girl though who was a big tori amos fan. she actually took a flight out to florida (from mass) just to see tori in tampa. then, when she got back to mass, was gonna see her in boston.

im spoiled here in western mass to no ends. (to all of you reading this who is thinking WTF, i live in *insert geographically disparate location here* that is so far from *insert major concert city location here*. I regularly have to put up with this sort of *insert explicitive*. How dare you be so lazy/whatever, arent you a troo fan?)

I totally share your superfandom. Also, Western Mass. rules!

Does anyone know if "Tiny Town" — one of the bonus tracks on the Japanese version — is a Dead Milkmen cover? If so, that would rule. I cannot imagine what it would sound like . . .

Good Thread. I’m feeling these albums right now:

                              1. Green Magnet School: "Blood Music"
                              2. Six Finger Satellite: "Law of Ruins"
                              3. Clinic: "Visitations"
                              4. Gang Starr: "Step in the Arena"
                              5. Arab on Radar: "Yahweh or the Highway"
                              6. The Cure: "Pornography"
                              7. Dinosaur Jr: "Bug"
                              8. Sebadoh: "Bubble and Scrape"
                              9. Count Bass D: "Act Your Waist Size"
                              10. Soul Control: "4 Song Demo"

Green Tea Ice Cream Tempura-stylee is fucking incredible!

As for J’s height, he’s def 6 or so feet. I’m 5′ 11”, and when I stood next to J in line at a CVS in Northampton he was taller than me.

Oh, man . . . I sound so pathetic. Why am I doing this?

The shirt you speak of is actually for the UK crust/punk/grind band "Doom." ;) You can cop it from any punk distro . . . try http://www.angryyoungandpoor.com
