Christina Aguilera, ‘Dirrty’
I’d like to see Christina beat up that little Avril chick.
Chrissy can belt. Even if she has the body of a 12 year old boy, and feels the need to wear 846519687 pounds of makeup. It’s so refreshing to hear a female who can actually sing. I feel bad that she feels like she has to get naked to sell, when her voice will so clearly outlast Britney’s or whomever else’s.
"I wasn’t very good at the America’s Sweetheart thing." – C.A.
My mom was once at some kind of conference in Gettysburg, and was staying in either a flat dorm or hotel that was on an old war ground. In the middle of the night she would hear horses’ hooves, really loud and thundering. And every morning, at exactly the same time, there would be a sharp rapping at her door just before dawn. And of course, each time, no one was there when she checked.
Speeooky.
Also, my mom and particularly my sister have somewhat psychic tendencies, and both of them have had weird premonitions, out of body experiences, etc. My mom thinks they’re cool, but my sister, who is the most sensitive, hates it and gets really upset and withdrawn when things happen.
For example, my sister’s boyfriend’s birthday is on September 11th. Last year, he was away from home and was going to fly back to Seattle (from New York) on his birthday, and my sister freaked out and insisted that he come back a day early. Then, on the 11th, at the same time as the bombings, she said a large shadow moved over the overhead light in her apartment, darkening everything, and she heard a deafening mechanical sound for well over ten minutes. She was in bed at the time, and couldn’t move because she was so freaked out.
My mom also had an intense experience that day; she was dreaming in the early morning and had the sensation of moving really really fast (like on a carnival ride where you rise up out of your seat slightly) and then coming to a violent halt, whereupon she woke up.
I gotta stop here; I’m freaking myself out.
Peace
RosaNono, you guys misunderstand…I’m familiar with Luisa and all that…just baffled by the lack of thanks on the album, haha. I know if he were MY man there’d be hell to pay

RosaDoctors are generally idiots. It’s a shame they can’t be sued for misdiagnosis. And frightening to think that they would rather give you a wrong answer than just say ‘I don’t know’ because of their Hippocratic pride.
Anyway, not to be totally insensitive, but is it possible to remove a gall bladder through laparoscopy? That’s wild. I thought that procedure was mostly for exploratory purposes.
Feel better J! We’re all pulling for you.

You’d all be gravely disappointed to see how un-goth I am. If you want to pick on me about something, at least strive for accuracy. This is the only place in the world where I’ve ever heard my name and ‘goth’ in the same sentence. *shrug*
Leaving thread now.
That’s right, you don’t date girls. My bad.

quote:
I don’t eat meat.

I still don’t think you’re cute. Nice try, though.
Also, Halfman instructed me to tell you that my subliminal sex dreams are about him, not you.
Try again.

quote:
with the most sad / beautiful singing ever

I still don’t think his singing is ‘sad’. But I’ve given up on that fight.
Still. No matter your opinion- if you were an artist, would you want to hear the same comment on your style year after year? Don’t people allow artists any room for change anymore?
*puts pen down*
He did sound a bit fluish on Friday, but it was that good fluish where your voice gets all throaty. I thought perhaps it was just a bit of a cold.
Sorry your shows have been cancelled; maybe he’ll reschedule and tack them back on at the end of the tour.
I’m sure he appreciates the well-wishes. I remember when Eddie Vedder made the news because he was literally throwing up on stage, and had to cut the show short, and everyone got pissed off and cut him no slack.
Feel better J, & feel better everyone who was looking forward to shows.

Holy crap, Allison, it’s the Amma Ring:

You know, I was wondering about that the other night- he wore it at Bottom of the Hill.
NR-
I don’t have any software that will resize images, that I know of. There is a place online that does it- I tried that for you, but I lost a lot of image quality.
The best suggestion I can make is to open it in a photo program, where you can customize the size of the print. Or, maybe one of the geeky tech guys here could help you out with the resizing.
Good luck!
Kiefer! The handsomest blond man alive!

Thanks, Allison! I rarely watch Leno so I never know who’s on.
appreciate it!
Rosap.s. Pearl Jam is dong Letterman 2 nights in a row- November 14th & 15th.
It IS a satire. It’s making fun of white people who actually do act that way- who try to disguise their prejudices by embracing the stereotypes. Redundant, or what.
I thought it was funny. Sorry to offend, but just think about it a little.

quote:
Everyone I knew did these things, yet no one I knew was really happy with how they felt about themselves or where their life was going.

Exactly. That’s the one thing I forgot to point out- everyone who gets caught up in this thinks that everyone else is enjoying himself. And the people who appear to be setting the trend are actually themselves just following along out of fear, or legitimate addiction.
It’s up to you to break the chain, Malc!! Do you want a bunch of un-friendships based on pretention, or a small number of vivid relationships based on truth? I’ve seen a lot of people really struggle with that; am here any time you want to talk, if you trust me.
xo,
Rosap.s. I’m not saying to abstain from everything; just make sure that you’re not engaging in them for the wrong reasons.
Drunk driving BAD.
Malky, do you feel you have to do this stuff to win/keep friends?
Let me clue you in on two things. First, girls are attracted to guys who are individuals, not followers. So maybe you could forego the gratuitous substance abuse, and try to prove to these girls how smart and creative you are before you go trying to cop a feel.
Second, friendships that are glued together with pot and alcohol rarely evolve into anything but more pot and alcohol. I hope you don’t feel so obligated to fit in that you make yourself sick and sad.
‘College life’ is a myth because college itself is completely insular and isolated from the rest of society. You have pre-paid housing, a meal plan, on-campus supply stores, and a bunch of teenagers living together in lockdown. College does everything for the student short of wiping his ass, and I found it a particularly difficult adjustment to make, especially since I took a year off after high school first. It was so tidy that it was suffocating, and my fellow students were a bunch of spoiled brats who spent all their parents’ money on pot. My roommate was one of these people, and she was constantly tagging along with the popular kids and selling herself short just to keep company. It was actually really sad.
I fought really hard to carve out my own little niche, even though it was difficult. I couldn’t bring myself to get into the party scene because in my heart I knew it held absolutely nothing for me. I liked more intimate, one-on-one friendships; more conversation; more sophisticated rebellion. I didn’t compromise my interests or my habits, and even though I didn’t make a plethora of friends I did make two very close ones with whom I’m still in touch.
I’m not trying to lecture you, or tell you what to do. Some people need to ‘experiment’, or whatever, when they go to college. It’s really interesting to examine the different ways that people act out once they leave the nest. But ultimately, I do think that if you go with your heart you will feel much, much better in the long run.
I consider you a friend and I don’t like to see my friends self-destruct. And I’m leaving this post because you seem like you had a miserable time, and I feel bad about that.
Just remember that the best artists have always been the ones who didn’t compromise. Even if it costs them popularity as children, they are the ones who go on to shape our culture.
So there, a little nugget of Rosa wisdom.
Good luck, & take care,
