Seriously. Bates, mosquitoes are attracted to dark clothing, carbon dioxide, and sweat. So dress in white and try not to breathe, and you should be okay.

Very scary about the chemical fogging. What do you do when it rains? And doesn’t it affect the produce/animals/etc?

quote:
Jill Scott or Erykah Badu? Roots rule either way,

Either way, exactly. It’s just so lyrically beautiful- boy meets girl, boy goes on tour, boy reunites with girl. He needs to tour and make music but he also wants to be with her. She needs to stay in school and study film, but she also wants to be with him. And in the end they vow to remain loyal to each other. The whole song is about them working it out despite each of them being pulled by their art. It’s just so sweet.

            Hey br,

That’s so funny; my cat’s vet is on Taraval. Did you live in the sunset district when you were here?

About the 7-11; after I made that last post, I remembered that there is one on Mission Street, in a somewhat shady neighborhood, next to Taco Bell. I can totally find my way around SF by the locations of Taco Bells and Walgreens, haha.

So yeah, I guess I lied. I still haven’t been to one, but I’ve SEEN one from afar.

Everyone talks so much about slurpees, they seem like an American staple. Maybe I should trek down to the Mission, in the daytime.

            xo

p.s. do slurpees come in different flavors, or what?

              Pearl Jam- ‘Soldier of Love’
              The Roots- ‘You Got Me’
              Daniel Johnston- ‘Love Wheel’
              Primus- ‘Tommy the Cat’
              Jane’s Addiction- ‘Summertime Rolls’
              J Mascis- ‘Where’d You Go’
Michael Jackson- ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’

My goal here is to keep the sad-song thread from overpowering the happy-song thread. Goddammit. I will force my sunshine down your throats.

I may/may not be making a trip home to my beloved upstate NY in early August. Money is tight, but I’d like to go home anyway, and I wouldn’t mind scheduling a trip to coincide with the show.

No solid plans yet, but we’ll see.

                take care,

I’ve never actually been to a 7-11. I don’t even know if I’ve ever seen one. But they sound so…sugary. Maybe I’ll hunt one down, to celebrate recently learning that I have no cavities.

                      Hi Max,

I’m so sorry to hear about your mother, and my friend. Thank you so much for caring enough to keep us informed; we all loved her a lot and will miss her very much. She was so sweet and was one of the few people here who managed not to make any enemies! She always spoke of you fondly and seemed like the epitome of a proud & caring parent.

We’re all pulling for you during this time, and I think I speak for all of us when I say that we’ll be here for you, if you ever need anything. Don’t ever be afraid to ask.

You and your mom are in our thoughts & in our hearts always.

                      Love,
                      Rosa

Did you suffer some kind of severe trauma prior to the dream? See a scary movie, maybe?

My skills as dream-reader are rudimentary. But I’d manage a red-light establishment if you were one of the clients, Javro.

                          Hey Carl.

The Rosaian interpretation says that #1 was warning you to make the right decision about something, and that #2 was a reassurance that you would pull through everything a-ok.

Dreams are bizarre. I firmly believe that, half the time, they are incredibly meaningful, and the other half, they mean nothing.

Ever wake up exhausted from dreaming? I think those are the meaningful ones. Just my opinion.

I also have the horrifying back-in-high-school dreams. Usually the theme is that I discover that I never earned enough credits to graduate, and I have to go back and take Physics all over again. Or I’m trying to track down my 12th grade English teacher, to show him the writing I’ve been doing, and they’ve restructured the school so that it’s like being trapped in a maze. I’m sure this represents something.

I think we should figure out a way to get into each others’ dreams. Maybe a la ‘The Cell’; rig up a couple of floating thingies and poke around.

                              I vote for Puff Daddy/P Diddy/Shamoobidy Poobidy:

you a queen / therefore I treat you royal

And let’s not even get me started on Alanis Morrissette. As they said on SNL, ‘Alanis, not everything you write in your journal is a song.’
