Thanks tony; & thanks everyone else who offered to help (you know who you are ).

I spent a few tedious hours on the web, and finally found a nice, secure program that will host my pics for free. They do stick their little URL on the bottoms of the images, but it’s not garish. I can deal.

Now I’m tempted to get all jpeg-happy on freakscene….think I’ll spare everyone though

thanks again, really appreciate everyone’s consideration–

Good lord. Is that you, natty dread?

Let’s leave my cat out of this

I just need a place to store the pics. Are there sites that host that kind of thing?

Also, I’d be willing to post a l’il freakscene banner, if anyone can tell me how.

See Rosa attempt to create bizarre online art!

            Oh, and I can’t forget:

Nice! You reminded me of another Britney gem:

"I dunno, I can’t really relate to the song"
–referring to "Baby One More Time", her breakout hit

quote:
Another girls dont solo post?

No; this is not Rosa standing on the soapbox shouting "feminism". My problem is with the broader picture, and the implications of the classification process. I’m just saying, if I had a son who came home with an assignment to label people, I would be pretty upset and would probably contact the teacher. That’s all.

quote:
life is too short to take offense at every joke

True. But jokes can also cause a lot of hurt and confusion, especially for children, and we all know what the consequences of that can be. Know your audience before you crack jokes at their expense.

Just my five cents. No offense intended to anyone at all, truly.

I, too, would be interested to hear the goal of the assignment. I really wonder why a teacher would ask you to write a paper "classifying" people. Teenagers are hard enough on each other with the labelling/stigmatizing as it is; I always thought it was adults’ responsibility to discourage that kind of behavior, and encourage individuality & cooperation. Similar to what Allison said, I believe that labels are a tool used by insecure people– If I know "what" someone is, I will know "how" to treat them. It upsets me to know that there are professors endorsing that mentality. Adults should think back on their childhood, and know better.

I’m not trying to attack you personally, Malc. I just think that, whether or not the piece was lighthearted in nature, people will internalize your words and stereotypes will be reinforced. That teenagers can’t play guitar, that girls in music stores are just "girlfriends", that black people are the only ones with any real talent.

I dig ya, Malc! Just debating is all.

Tweet, "Oops (Oh My)". Anybody hear it? It’s the best song ever written about masturbation.

I’ve said it before- labels, shmabels. Now I’m going to be paranoid next time I go into a guitar shop, worrying about who’s looking over my shoulder & casting judgment. Keep in mind that someday, YOU may end up the butt of a similar post, by another observer, who will create a profile of you based on your clothes, choice of instrument, and the company you keep.

Can’t you just let people be people, and let them shop? I take offense to this post.

                      Rosa

p.s. btw, didn’t see any women mentioned in your profiles, other than the vapid "girlfriend". What guitar stores have you been hanging out in??

I nominate Axl Rose, Chris Robinson, Marilyn Manson, Jim Morrison, Screamin Jay Hawkins, and Diamanda Galas for screams.

Howsabout Britney. "I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman". Even the title makes me barf. Can only imagine what kind of trite lyrics the puppeteers came up with for that one.

Hey Malc, I just felt incredibly inclined to revive this thread of yours. I just came from the new Marilyn Manson website. It’s embarrassing. It moves along so fast, and no one can spell, and it is overrun with bored young kids with screennames like "darkangel" and "raven" and "blackcherry". Ugh. I am a big Manson fan, but I feel so conflicted about his official site. He’s such a bright man, and intense, and it’s sad to see so much stupidity abounding on the bbs there. No one has talked about anything even remotely stimulating, intellectually or otherwise. I don’t know whether to join in, and try to spice things up, or just detach. I find myself wondering if either would be beneficial to my dignity.

But yeah, after surfing around for a bit, I was reminded of your post here. I can’t place Dino above any of my other favorite bands, but the community here is wonderful. This has been my only positive and long-term involvment in any such community on the net. FS is as much about us as it is about J’s music.

Just wanted to thank you for posting this. You guys are all the best.

                                xoxo, & thanks.
