Well, "Mass Kiss" is already taken by me, for when I form my cover band , but I had a few silly ideas that popped up…all hybrids:

Severed Spirit
Questicide
Heart-Shaped Gargoyle

hehehe

Hi Sappy,

I am with Kurticus. I haven’t heard every single album of Neil’s, but I’ve liked all the stuff I HAVE heard. He’s dabbled in country and blues in addition to rock, but he does it in such a smart and honest way, that sets him apart from other artists who’ve done that sort of thing just to be novel. "Decade" is a good sampler, as is the MTV Unplugged album.

My favorite of his was this live, double-LP bootleg my father had; I think it was called "Young Man’s Fancy". It was a fuzzy recording from the late 60s, early 70s. I don’t know if it’s available anywhere, and I don’t know if anyone else would like it. Not that that helps you!

So find out what’s on sale, and pick it up! You can also go to cdnow or amazon, and listen to sound clips.

happy hunting,
xo

You do the same, bates!

If you’re ever in the Bay Area, you gotta check out the Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum. One room is a graveyard, with some kind of 3-d video projection of a little man that climbs out of an urn and talks to you. Pretty wild.

Thanks for the link too- very cool! A pop-up brain! I’ve heard that childhood memories can be instantly recalled by tickling part of a person’s brain during surgery…always wondered about that! I went through a brief phase where I wanted to be a brain surgeon…I think that was after the astronaut phase but before the soap opera actress phase

Here’s to hoping that your (possibly impending) belated Christmas gift finds you well!

Hey Allison,

I saw that phobia book at the comic store not too long ago; freaked me out! That’s pretty funny that you got it as a gift, but it seems to suit you somehow And a Betty Boop shower curtain…how cool is that?? You’ll have to tell me where you got it sometime. When she was little, my sister’s nickname was Betty Boop because of a striking resemblance; we still get her stuff with her likeness on it from time to time.

Did you ever find the Pee Wee Christmas special?

I agree. It’s like cycles of nature, you know? We get floods and fires and then everything regenerates.

I, for one, lost my job at the end of the summer, and have had lots of free time to post about. But I still try to exercise a little discretion, and not go nuts replying to every thread just to hear (see?) my own voice.

I think that people will post when it’s important to them. And I bet that lots of the more silent members are lurking about, as Allison said; maybe just not yet compelled to reply. It can be difficult to ease into a community that is already well-established.

I have no complaints; I think the bbs here is great. If more people start talking, fine; if not, fine. I’ll find something here that makes me laugh either way.

I think that the Dave Matthews Band sound like elevator music. Really. I mean, they’re all talented and capable musicians, but they just put me to sleep. And I can’t stand his voice.

Quite the random thread, fat jesus. But I’m amused. Don’t see any resemblance to J, but I’ll look again sometime.

I will be banging my head against the nearest wall, cursing myself for spending hundreds of dollars on family members who’ve spent $4 on presents for me that will arrive in February. You’d think I’d learn, after all these years. I guess I just like giving cool things to people.

And I know that it really is the thought that counts, but what am I supposed to think of small, late thoughts? It’s depressing.

Joy to the world.

I will try to make the best of my snowless Christmas; maybe drive up to Tahoe or something so I can see a few flakes (and maybe some snow). I also plan on cooking up a large meatless meal, and maybe some Buckeyes (rice krispies & peanut butter, rolled into balls & covered with chocolate). I may even go to Macy’s. I love that cinnamon stuff they spray during the Christmas season.

I enjoy Christmas, I really do. I’m just in a crummy mood; probably not the best time to be writing this.

You guys rock. I hope all you Freaks make the most of this holiday season. I’m not a practicing Christian, but I think that the holiday has come to be more about family & friends anyway. And you guys are the best.

love

Tom,

There’s some sort of little radio station out here (Bay Area) that plays some pretty obscure stuff; I’m guessing it’s a college station. You can tell by the way they let the rap songs run with absolutely no censorship, which is cool. The format also seems kinda college-radio; 3 or 4 hour blocks of different genres. The thing is, I can only pick it up in certain neighborhoods when I’m driving around.

Sorry I don’t know more; I’ll see what I can find out. Anyone else in the Bay Area? Maybe buckingham rabbit knows. I think it’s 90.3 FM?

p.s. I’d be interested in hearing if any of you have access to a good dirty rockabilly show. There was a great one in Vermont called Cockfight…probably the only thing I miss about college.

Hey Salamiguy,

Wow, you’re only the second person I’ve met who knows the Halo Benders.

As far as vocalists, even though I have pretty broad taste, my likes & dislikes are clear-cut. I either dig someone’s voice or I can’t stand it. A friend of mine once told me that, as a musician, "mediocre is the worst thing you can be".
