Hey Den,
I couldn’t help but be reminded of this story:
I went to OzzFest earlier this year, and as the tickets were free, the seats were subsequently pretty crummy, and we were pretty far back.
When Marilyn Manson were on, this white trash girl decided to give her white trash boyfriend a lap dance during the entire set. It was really awful; she was wearing denim shorts and a bikini top, and her dancing was just too over the top and exaggerated. Mostly we were just pissed because we were so far back, and we had to keep craning our necks so we could see the band around her gyrating butt.
I have to laugh now; whenever I hear "The Dope Show" I can see her bumping her hips in time– "We’re–all–stars–now"…too funny.
But as far as what gets Rosa’s body moving? Pretty much anything that’s not too slow. But "Cherchez La Ghost" by Ghostface Killah is high up on that list. Also, "Express Yourself" by Madonna, "Sure Shot" by the Beastie Boys (I have a great live version on tape somewhere), and of course, anything by the Reverend Horton Heat. But those are just a few
Take Care
RosaHello,
It amazes me that they have this whole expanse of stage to work with, and they still squish George in between the stacks. Too weird! I wonder if anyone in the band suffers from mild agoraphobia.
Cool pics bates…I really like the one of J & Mike backstage; saved it to my comp.
take care,

Re-read my post.
I ‘m not categorizing anyone. I also clearly emphasized the difference between religion & ethnicity, especially because those two are often (erroneously) used interchangably.
J could feasibly be Russian or Polish, which would increase his odds of having been raised Jewish, which would be (to me) an interesting contrast to his interest in Eastern religion & philosophy.
Now, back to the question…

Hey Allison,
Thanks for posting the link! I am unfortunately a grammar nerd, and could not get through the article without laughing: "guirtarist", "rearkably", "resilliant", and my favorite, "extremety".

RosaOne winter night, several years ago, my friend & I were walking through the graveyard near my dad’s house in upstate NY. While I wouldn’t walk through by myself at night, it was a walk we often took together when we didn’t feel like walking on the road. It was peaceful, quiet, and nothing weird ever happened…until this one night.
The cemetery runs about two blocks long, and the path that goes through it is parallel to the street. The path is lined with several large trees, and that night they were covered with snow and really heavy and saggy.
So Marie and I are walking along, talking, and we suddenly hear this weird noise– it sounds like there are hundreds of birds in the tree ahead of us, but we can’t see any signs of them. It is this crazy deranged sound, like a squall of loons. Since we can’t SEE any birds, we figure that maybe they are cloaked by the heavy snow and branches. So we each grab a snowball and throw it square into the middle of the branches. Nothing flies out and the sound stops all at once.
So we are weirded out but we keep walking (we’re already halfway through). We take a few more steps and we hear the same exact deranged sound, only it’s coming from the NEXT tree, 20 yards ahead. And again when we get close, we throw snowballs at it and it stops, and nothing flies out or even moves. The next tree, the sound happens again, but by this time we quit with the snowballs and just decide to haul ass. It keeps happening at each tree– sounds like a thousand crazy birds making this strange deranged noise….and then it stops when we get within striking range.
This is my only legitimate eerie story and it still gives me goosebumps when I think about it. Suffice to say, I haven’t cut through that graveyard since.
Happy Halloween
Rosa
Wait a minute; the Murder City Devils broke up? And before I got to see them live, too. Ah well. Please let them not attemp to cover old swing songs with a big band and a rockabilly guitar.

RosaMatt,
I have a couple friends back home who post on opendiary.com. It’s weird to me, considering that the whole premise of a diary is privacy; at the same time, I find them very entertaining. I don’t keep one, but I’m very much a voyeur and I read random entries in addition to my friends’.
I’m sure someone with such an, ahem, healthy ego would do just fine if he decided to start an online journal. Besides, it doesn’t have to be all deeply personal stuff anyway, if you don’t want it to be.
In any case, if you decide to do it, be sure to send me the address. I’ll be looking–

These boards are as much about us as they are about J’s music. There would be no fanbase without fans, and what fun is being a fan if you don’t have other people to share it with?
As far as me being a big pain in the ass, well, I’ll wear that with pride. I guess I get one cheek and Jaron gets the other.
Love,
RosaI think that when he said that he would rot and worms would eat him, he had picked up on the Jesus-vibe and was just really making fun of the guy. He does have that rather stoic sense of humor.

RosaI have mixed feelings about this one….If I were a flight attendant who got laid off with no notice and no compensation, I would definitely demand some kind of restitution. But since when is it the government’s job to bail out commercial industries? Airlines aren’t federally funded (or are they?); if Dubya is gonna pump money into them, I think it’s only fair that he do the same for grocery store cashiers, sanitation workers, and other American workers who have faced sudden job termination. Who is to say which jobs are more valuable?

In no particular order:
Doors- The Doors
Marilyn Manson- Portrait of an American Family
Pearl Jam- Ten
Jimi Hendrix- Are You Experienced?
Fiona Apple- Tidal
Reverend Horton Heat- Smoke Em if you Got Em
Wu-Tang Clan- Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Tori Amos- Little Earthquakes
Erykah Badu- BaduizmI hear you, Mantis.
I mostly just thought it was funny. Especially to see Marilyn Manson & Dawson’s Creek represented in the same sentence as satanic.
Just thought it was a funny post. Stuff like that; you can either get worked up about it or just realize the humor in it. I’m not knockin’ Christianity, just wackos in general. The article had me laughing out loud & I thought the good folks at freakscene deserved a laugh as well.

Rosap.s. if anyone DOES have a picture of Eddie & Manson, please forward it to me

Actually, I was wondering if Eddie and Manson had ever met, and if anyone had seized such a photo opportunity.
It’s amazing how much crap you can find. I found some religious stuff, and I also discovered that many people are of the opinion that you cannot like both bands at the same time. There’s just too much hate in the world; I hate it.
