after seeing Dinosaur Jr. the other night I changed my mind on the tremelo. I really liked it live and it was used tastefully. I still think the lung sounded crumby on T.V. but they played it the other night and it was great.
Also, I showed up kind of late to seeing them in boston and I snuck my way up close to the stage, and who do I find standing next to me but J. Mascis. It was funny right after I said to my friend "what were they thinking having this lousy band open for them" I notice J. standing in front of me. And he really didn’t look too impressed I must say.I was pretty upset when they just recently announced a show in North Hampton, I’d much rather see them there than Boston, more of the hometown you know? and not such a crazy big time club like the avalon.
I might just go to both, to the person talking about wanting to hang out with J and the band: the north hampton show would be a better bet. (I bet)well, I just wanted to see if anyone felt the same way, I guess no one does really. I don’t want them playing just like the album, but I just don’t dig the effect one bit…I dont know…it just takes away from the songs, for me that is.
I’m a big fan of sounds and strange effects, but this one just doesn’t tickle my fancy.
But anyway, it’s good to see that people like it, because if everyone felt the way I do it would make for pretty shitty times.
I’m still really excited to see Dinosaur Jr. though, I’ve seen J. a bunch and I ran into him at a couple shows (Ian Mackaye and his new band in Worcester and Morrissey in Boston) at the Ian Mackaye show me and my friend asked him if their would be a Dino Jr. reunion (this was right before J was playing a show in north hampton alongside the likes of Lou Barlow) he said there wouldn’t be one because no one could find Murph. Then at the show there was a Deep Wound reunion, god that made me happy.
anyway, I’m digressing. -
