…….got a netflix subscription for x-mas, so i see a ton of movies in my future. so far i’ve watched the jeff tweedy "sunken treasure", "little miss sunshine", and "we jam econo". netflix has tons of cool music dvds that i could never get at my local rental joint, so i’m stoked. my next selections are "an inconvienient truth", "trane tracks: the legacy of john coltrane", and "elvin jones: jazz machine"……
happy new year to all of yinz……..

Quote:So, I just started reading Haunted the other day and I’m thinking that "Guts" has become part of this book.….you are correct, lisa. i just picked up a copy of "Haunted", and that story is indeed "Guts". still makes me squirm in my seat…..

this is blowin’ me away. man, ornette still has it..at age 76….
damn….how could i forget that sonic youth album?! i’m a huge grant lee fan, but nineteeneighties didn’t do much for me. golden smog and lambchop are both winners though…
anyone else here frequent the website salon.com? they have a daily feature called "audiophile" in which they post downloads of tunes along with music news and the like. anyhoo…this week they had 2 songs from the upcoming tom waits collection, as well as a track from the jason molina solo album. you have to watch a 5-10 second ad in order to have access to all of the content, but well worth it. the first song i ever learned to fingerpick was "blackbird". it’s always fun to play. and every person you meet has their own little quirks to the way they play it, that’s fun too…..
john FRUsciante – a shere in the heart of silence
heh……as for the background noise and such….i really love "the texas campfire tapes" by michelle shocked. you can hear the traffic passing by in the background, and the crackle of the fire. on the other hand…studio gimmickry can be cool too. when i first got "ok computer" i couldn’t stop listening to it. seemed like every listen i heard some cool new bleeps and blips.
