eric bachman – to the racesi haven’t heard much about the vinyl pressing..only that they are pressing some…and i can’t wait to get my hands on one. sounds like you’ve been a fan from the get-go (as have i), and it just tickles me listening to their evolution from record to record. i was also worried that we might get a "picaresque vol. II" as well, but my ears haven’t been this happy in a while. if you’re into the file-sharing scene, several people on soulseek are sharing it (me included)

polamalu upgraded for this weeks game against the jags. here’s hoping he plants a big fat kiss on byron leftwich. when i first saw the schedule i thought the jags would be a cupcake win, but after watching them last weekend, the stillers better bring their A game……
it’s different than picaresque in some regards, but it has its likenesses too. the lyrics and stories are pretty typical colin meloy stuff…outcasts, scallywags, degenerates and the like…it’s the instrumentation that comes off as a bit different (to me, anyway). not as much accordion, etc..but more keyboards and the like. one review i read said that it sounds like colin has been listening to classic prog rock type stuff….and i can hear a bit of that. there are 2 songs that play at 10 minutes+ ("the island, come and see, the landlords daughter, you’ll not feel the drowning" and "the crane wife pts. 1&2") "the crane wife" is a 3-part suite, but they didn’t track it sequentially..pt. 3 is track 1, and pts 1&2 are track 9..go figure…anyhoo…it’s fucking fantastic!
