I like playing Heart of gold, and playing around with Cortez the killer. Songs with regular chords where one can do small scale embelishments on the chords. sort of country style. pull offs and stuff, little slides up to the fifth band. U know what I’m talking about?
thought I should add my two cents about grey hair or not. I saw Fog play in 2001, and the hair was quite grey.

hehe. Sometimes while i’m here I suddenly start thinking about that disc. what happened to it? did you send it to the Us? to the man himself?did you loose it, accidently record over it? I have thought about that once in a while here. not saying you have made my life miserable, but that md contains the best Fog show ever.
well, that md should really be up on freesofree.net if we only could do that.. but that might be unethical…Hi Robert.
I have got that one, though not here in front of me. Who released it? some pirate made money on the peel session? or was it a legal release?
same question can be asked about the other peel session 7′ the double one with Noon at dawn an Hide plus keeblin and
(say the first letter and i’ll remember)thought those purple ones were 1,14 mm?
there were some light blue dunlop plectrums with dino logo earlier around 93. Know for sure J played with purple dunlop during the Fog period. Are some pics of the picks some place here on the guitarboard. To me the metal big muff sounds a lot like the sound J has live, when he plays with his jazzmaster in brigde pick up position. this riff is kinda 70s blues rock riff where he adds fast tremolo picking. sounds like J to me.
and the flanger thing sounds very like J, sounds like he is playing D-C with the kind of D chord he uses on blowing it and does it float. and trademark J solo on top.Happy birthday from a norwegian guy.
Haven’t been that familiar with Pink Floyd, but have heard the Pulse live cd and know the most popular songs (how can one avoid that). Heard Barretts Madcap laughs over ten years ago, but haven’t listened to it since, so probably was not overwhelmed. To my excuse I was about 14 at the time. Still have the cd, so I can give it a second go.
Today I was in a second hand store, and bought some vinyl. Chet Atkins from 1967, Genesis’ Nursery Cryme, Nils Lofgrens Flip from 1987 (never heard him before, but what the heck), have no idea what to expect but hopefully it isn’t as awfull as the cover. And then, Pink Floyds Animals. Listening to it right now. Nice stuff. So will probably check out their catalog more closely and also get some stuff where Syd Barrett is on.
Swedish death metal band Entombed has one of their members in a dino t shirt in one of their cd booklets.
Entombed is not strictly death metal, though they started out in that genre. Some of their albums have incorporated more hardcore punk and and detroit rock. One of their earlier members went on to hellacopters.
May 17, 2006 at 9:47 am in reply to: This has probably been posted before, but: Guitar effects on #117532I don’t know the answer. J uses different guitars when recording. He uses Fender Jazzmaster on Out there live, but could be he used something else in the studio.
As for amp and effects… no clue what amp is used.
I guess the sound J uses live on this song is quite similar to the studio recording. You might get a similiar sound with a big muff. but you have to try different eq positions on your amp, and maybe combine the big muff with so and so much pre amp gain. and then find out how much you should turn the big muff knobs.so I guess, you can try with different amp eq settings and a big muff..
well.. yeah, but Get me was recorded released in 92, with hot burrito #2, so maybe it’s closer in date with the green mind release. But I also associate those bonus tracks with Where you been.
I have a taste for blue color guitars.
But besides jazzmaster, and fender guitars, I would like to try a dusenberg (i know ronnie wood has one.) Or maybe a gretch silverjet or rocketjet. anyone tried these? I want a rough, but warm tone ( not too jazzy) and add a slight little distortion/fuzz.May 12, 2006 at 1:05 pm in reply to: Thurston Moore to currate Nightmare Before Christmas Festiva #115992iggy and the stooges are still going strong. I saw them last week in my hometown Bergen in Norway. Iggy stagedived two times. during No Fun people were invited up on stage, to go wild and sing the chorus through Iggys mic. It was cool and we went crazy in front of the stage. people stagediving.. how fun isn’t that? I wanted to go up on stage but my pockets were full of coins and keys etc, cause I had no wallet to keep them in. would be a shame to stagedive and lose mobilephone and etc, but anyway it was fun to be part of the party. Mike W on bass, brought back memories from J and the fog in Oslo. Ron Asheton had some cool guitars I haven’t seen before. Seemed like there were three p 90 mics on each.what guitar is that? His playing especially with the wah brought my thoughts to J mascis. haven’t heard early stooges live stuff, but has the the live sound always been like that? Than I understand were J has found inspiration.
randy jane: if I lived in US, you could have had a look on the guitars, but I live in Europe. guitars and everything are more expensive here, so I probably will sell locally when it’s time.
100 w marshall valvestate. Might try to get another amp when time is right. I mainly need warm, lightly distorted sound.
I have two fender jazzmasters, don’t really need both, so I might sell one of them someday. they are both vintage.
A fender Mustang 1965 for sale
Hagstrom 12 string electrical guitar. – nice guitar, from 1968
fender telecaster ( corona 1999?`)
