Hello, it’s me, do you remember? LOL…been a while since I posted here and I’m in a little bit of a different place in my life now but still diggin’ the J. Was lucky enough to see the Dino tour last spring in Lancaster PA and the Witch tour in DC in Jan 09. Both rocked mightily and I"m sure Sweet Apple will rock just as hard live. I have been hearing about this record off and on for over a year and wasn’t sure if it was ever going to get released, or was it just something done for fun/ therapeutic value, but glad that it’s finally coming out.

I went to a Cobra Verde show, just happened that Cobra Verde (with J on guitar) opened for Evan Dando in Washington DC. Juliana Hatfield played with Evan.
But during Cobra Verdes set, Evan was in the crowd right in front of us jumping up and down like a maniac, pissing off everyone within a 20 foot radius.
I remember pushing him real hard in the back and laughing my ass off. I think it was Modified Frankenstein. We highly enjoyed roughing him up. Was never a Lemonheads fan.Oh yeah, when Cobra Verde was on stage, the place was packed. When the ‘head-liner’ came out, the place was almost empty.
I remember that show!! yeah Evan was a dweeb…I was also disappointed in his live show. Juliana was very good, however, and they did a bunch of old Lemonheads stuff so that was nice to see them again. I think Juliana was a "special guest" and didn’t play all the shows on that tour so I was happy to see her.
Saw Evan again when he came through town with the DKT-MC5 and once again he was one of the less impressive parts of the evening. It’s kinda sad, the guy obviously just has…problems, i’ll leave it at that

LOL, I’m an idiot!! I have TWO dino Jr pages friended on MySpace and I went to the OTHER one!

I wish that place made it easier to keep track of who was who, I’m sure I’ll make that mistake again!
At least I found different MP3s….I was wondering "hey where did the post by J and stuff like that go…"
DUH on me!!!
"sonicdeathmonkey " wrote:J sure does love his stuffed animals. It confounds me to insanity, but hey, a grown man can do whatever he pleases as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone. It just seems strange for a 42 year old man to have a lot of stuffed little kids toys.i know a lot of people over 40 who love plush toys and/or dolls. many of them are artists and get really inspired by looking at them. a lot of them also make the toys and dolls. i’m also not real sure what being a hetero man has to do with it, i know hetero men who are married with kids and sit in studios making or working with toys and puppets all day, and who like teddy bears just fine.
speaking as somebody who’s over 40, once you get to be that age you stop giving two cow flops what anybody else thinks of what you do. you spend your whole 20s worrying about that stuff…but once you get older you’re just like "aw f*** it i’m gonna be who i am and if that means i carry a teddy bear around then i’m gonna do it." i mean, maybe you use some discretion and don’t take it to the office, but around your house or shows or anyplace that’s not corporate mind suck is fine. stuff like that is what i love about j.

i’ve wondered about the hair color thing on j too but he looks good both ways to me so it’s really just up to him how he feels like looking. a dude wailing on an axe with long flying gray hair is cool and witchy.I got two zombie worm shirts, one to wear and one to make a sofa pillow from. I got the purple cow at the show last year

glad to know the show went on, that’s one good thing.
August 31, 2006 at 1:02 pm in reply to: Dinosaur Jr Gear Stolen (Long Island City, NY) [CALL FOR HEL #121218i just read this on another forum, terrible news both for the band and for the people who might not get to see upcoming shows
this is getting to be a regular occurrence unfortunately – wasn’t it camper van beethoven who had same thing happen last year? hopefully the dino equipment is distinctive enough that it will be recognized…crossing my fingers.Who opened? I didn’t want to go down super early because I knew the club would be full and VERY warm. As it turned out I was walking in the door just as Dino were walking out to go in the front and go onstage. Also I hate to say this but last time I saw Dino reunion play here (at the 9:30 last year) the opener was really awful. I got kinda dissed for saying that as it turns out they’re friends of someone I know, but they were just too artsy and not rockin’ enuf. In any event, I wasn’t sure I wanted to bother coming early for some "special guest" whose identity wasn’t listed on the club site.
I suspect any lack of energy might have been due to the fact that it had to be about 100 degrees in parts of the room and that you literally could not move on the main floor of the club, much less see in many cases. From upstairs I could basically see the top halves of J and Lou, that’s about it…and that was still a lot more than I could have seen from down on the floor! In any event I didn’t see anybody rushing to get out of there early, people were pretty spellbound with attention. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to see much of anything so I took some crocheting and worked on that while listening and got up to dance during a couple songs.
Who were all those really young kids upfront? they looked about 11 years old max. i was wondering if they were even born when Dino was around the first time

I didn’t see the flip off guy but I saw the one guy trying to crowd surf, I don’t think he got too far with it but I don’t think they threw him out either. The O-bar is a nice little venue, I have to say I greatly prefer it to the 9:30 where there are all these rules about where you can stand or sit and you can’t get up to the stage anymore. One thing I did notice is Lou was totally silent this show compared to the last one where he talked a lot between songs.
Wish the show had been a little longer, but given that it was a million degrees and I had to get home to sleep in order to get to work today, I didn’t mind…Too much…I don’t think

j fans are real nice, although i prefer to meet them at the smaller shows like fog and j solo, because these big dino gigs are just too crowded and bring out more of the casual fans.
but they’re very nice people, more so than a lot of the other bands i see.
"kracked873" wrote:magik markers fucking rock and it hurts me that they get so much hate.maybe if they were playing on a bill with some more experimental act or at an art gallery they wouldn’t incur so much wrath. they struck me as more of a performance art group than an actual band, sort of in the pere ubu vein but less musical.
also, in terms of tailoring a setlist for the actual audience, it’s ridiculous to play a reunion show that’s guaranteed to bring out a bunch of thirty- and fortysomethings and then stand up there and intone lyrics or poetry about how at least you have your youth and you won’t have it long.
i had to miss the phila show last night due to too much homework, a lack of travellin’ money and general exhaustion. glad the smoky amp didn’t ruin it for people. it figures the show on the 13th would have a problem

they must have gotten a new shirt shipment as i don’t think red cow t’s were available at the dc show the other nite.
i’m also glad the majic markers got booed and cut their set because they really are bad. i mean, not in the sense of "i just didn’t like them" bad, i mean in the sense of musically and performance-wise awful. i can’t figure out who would put a band that seems to barely be able to play on a bill with someone like j where the audience appreciates skillz.
at the dc show the other night, some of the shirts were only available in really limited sizes, like the cows were only in youth large and adult small and medium. i dunno if they got a new shipment of shirts in for the new york gigs.
"Flying Cloud" wrote:I think for shots out of the crowd they should wait until they are in venues with a reeling in front of the stage.yes, i’m not sure if it’s become a normal practice for that venue to make an aisle/railing in front of the stage and have bouncers stand in it to keep folks back, or if they only do that for sold-out shows, but i seem to recall seeing shows there recently that did not have such a thing.
