heh, yeah i just noticed that myself when i was over at that page looking at don depew’s bio. depew is affiliated with cobra verde and worked on the "easy listening" cv album on which j played a couple years back, that was when don was running his own recording studio, 609 (also famous for recording GBV’s "Mag Earwhig" album and lots of metal and other Cleve stuff). 609 shut down last year and i guess don is working over at ante up now so that explains the J connection.
by the way, just curious but was the setlist shortened or anything last nite cuz from the past stuff posted on this board i was sort of expecting another 15 minutes…it was great, i’m not complainin’, i just thought it was gonna last a little longer is all
i hope this dvd comes out well because i was a little disturbed to see the fans all pushed back from the stage last night in DC so the filming dude could prance around and get closeups
"lookitssam" wrote:I just got back. It was fucking awesome. Best rendition of Tarpit EVER.Yeah I thought it was really good too. Very enjoyable show, except for the Majic Markers or however the first opener spells their name—horrible band, bad matchup for the bill. I did doze off for a few minutes right before "Just Like Heaven" but when I heard that begin it woke me up alright

Plus, there was a cow shirt left in my size

Another great night with the J!! i have a ticket to phila but i’m not sure if I can blow off commitments to go up there tomorrow…we’ll see…

j is starting to remind me a little bit of neil young, lookswise, which is cool
I just got my Phila ticket, anyone else heading to that one?

Hahahahhahaha
Good catch. Some bands I know put on a "Buddhapalooza" show a few years ago in honor of the Buddha’s bday to raise money for a meditation center that some of the guys frequented. It was a good show. I recorded part of it and at the very end I picked up this guy walking out yelling "Three cheers for the Buddha!" It always makes me chuckle.
Let’s give the new dude a chance before we make snap judgments about him. Making strong statements when you’re the leader is a lot harder than when you’re just one of the followers. I’m sure he’ll think a lot harder before he spouts off now, or pay the consequences.
I do agree that JPII is one tough act to follow though.
Got mine for DC and Phila. Hope I can get the time off mid-week for Phila!

I saw them because cobra verde was opening for ’em. I enjoyed nebula very much too.
i guess i am weird, all i really care about is how j sounds not how he looks…i’ve been seeing so many reunion shows with some people who still look great, and some who look great but they’re well known to be on drugs, and some who don’t look great but they’re all off drugs and look healthy though old, and i have this friend in his 20s who is going gray really fast while i’m like 17 years older and don’t have gray yet because of my genes (have wrinkles though) so…i dunno i feel like how we all look is becoming less important and i like that
i just want everybody to dig the music and be happy
