Hi Flying Cloud – I’ve heard unofficially that J contributed a guitar solo to at least one track. Can’t wait to hear that.

matt on bass was loud all right. he had to be in order to get heard/felt at all between george and j.
Hi, J and the Fog are loud. I will say though that they’re no louder than a lot of other guitar bands. You will suffer hearing loss from being up front at a J show but I’ve suffered much worse (like two or three days loss) from being up front at GBV shows. Among recently touring club bands, the loudest I have seen was Mudhoney, which were so continuously loud I moved away from the stage front after two songs.
If you have to hear the next day or you’re worried about your hearing from going to frequent shows, do use earplugs. If you don’t need to hear the next day and don’t go to as many shows, you can go without and you might lose a day of hearing – it also depends a lot on the shape of the club and who’s running sound and so forth.
doesn’t surprise me at all, i’m two hours south and we still got about two feet. no one is going ANYWHERE, all the cars on my street are buried to the windows – I haven’t seen this much snow here in ten years. hope j and the band didn’t get stuck out on the roads, and found a warm place to hang out till it melts.
wow, i thought that was in a museum…glad i got a chance to see it!
yeah man that was loud alright!
forgot to say george on drums=PILE DRIVER!

is that the one he was using at the show? i loved all the glittery decorations on it

kudos to j for such a great show last night. he is one of the only living guitarists who literally makes me feel like i am flying when i haven’t had a beer or anything mood altering. the acoustic gigs i saw last year were nice but FOG=HIGH OCTANE!! i have to admit i almost didn’t go because of the weather reports, but fortunately the snow was late coming in so it wasn’t as bad a drive home as i was afraid it was going to be. once again i missed meeting up with anyone, i planned to look for folks after the show but given the impending snowstorm i had to high tail it out of there the minute the house lights went up. i was by the right speaker stack about ten feet from the Man of the Hour and of course i went home deaf but it was way worth it. big thanks to the guy in the Live t-shirt who moved so I could get a full-on view of J, that was very kind of you, you didn’t have to do that but I appreciate it.
I am impressed with J’s constitution in being able to put on a show like that with all he has been through this year, but I think there are some people like J and Watt who just love the music so much that it seems to give them strength and everyone else who comes in contact with it is touched also…THANK YOU J for a truly unforgettable Valentines’ day experience.
well, the weather reports totally suck for DC this weekend, nonetheless I am going to try to make it down though it means i have to sleep at my office after. have to come straight from work so will be wearing my work clothes (long gray tweed coat, orange tunic top, long hair, glasses)
i think that was a nice idea indeed – i just found out about this as i haven’t had time to check this board for the last couple of weeks. i’ll be glad to paypal you a few dollars later – it was very thoughtful of you and good work getting it together

hi, i’m planning to be there and would love to say hi to you (and anyone else from the board) who’s going to the show. my partying will be limited by my having to drive home right after and work the next day, but meeting ppl at shows is always fun. hope if anyone else is going they’ll give a shout out

hi there, I’ve been MIA for a while…work stuff and family stuff! but it’s great to see a full-band Fog show coming right to my town o’ DC. I hope to get to this one…Missed one a couple years back, been kicking myself ever since. Did I see it’s on Valentine’s Day? awwwwwww how womantick!
(and thanks Alison, u no whut 4
)thanks for posting that. man that pisses me off though. not only did the guy not bother to find out the "Cobra Verde drummer’s" effing NAME, the only one left from the Cobra Verde lineup who used to back GBV is John Petkovic—and they haven’t used the GBVerde lineup nor done anything with GBV in like FIVE ENTIRE YEARS!!! grrrrrrr

that’s interesting, J was wearing a purple cow shirt in Phila. but it wasn’t the Dino Jr. cow (which I had forgotten about or got mixed up with the Dead milkmen dead cow). it was a graphic of a cow that I remember being on a lot of other fabric prints back then. I wonder if he has a whole wardrobe of different purple cow shirts.
ouch is right. hope u feel better soon, j. i can’t imagine playing a show with a gallbladder attack going on *shudder* the man is a pro what can i say.
