Pailhead = ian mackaye of fugazi and al jourgensen of ministry
I heard that band Crazy Town (you know the hot-topic mannequins that sing about butterflies) do a cover of a Refused song!! Haven’t actually heard the song…but…PROBABLY pretty bad!
I was at the show too…I enjoyed it but not nearly as much as the last couple (non-acoustic) shows.
J wasn’t very talkative (but is he ever?! stupid thing to say i guess). also walked right past him on the street and gave him a big smile which he ignored like he did at the last show when i saw him by the bathrooms. Hope I don’t sound like a whiner or anything, just trying to share the details. I appreciated Mike’s set but it almost put me to sleep. I think I was just in a more ‘rockin’ mood last night…and I was also quite drunk.
so there you go.J Mascis – Seattle @ Tractor Tavern
White Stripes – Seattle @ Moore TheatreAs soon as Bumbershoot festival tix go on sale I will be buying one…SONIC YOUTH!!! (Don’t know who else is playing…don’t care!) I’ve been listening to Sonic Youth since I was 14 and haven’t had the chance to see them live yet!! (that’s 11 years of waiting)
Hey Allison…
I have the Pee Wee Xmas special. Maybe one day (if yours never arrives) I could send you a copy.
As for my presents…I was pretty spoiled so it’s hard to only name a few. I guess some of my faves would be:
– black and red small purse shaped like an old bowling bag
– The Smiths and Requiem for a Dream DVDs
– Belle and Sebastian & Sigur Ros CDs
– Hello Kitty vibrator
– Photography guide bookI hope everyone had a great holiday! And happy New Year to you all!

That one always seems to put a lump in my throat.

happy birthday javro… sorry it’s not too happy
I sorta hate meeting people I admire, because I don’t want to come off all groupie-like, or "hey I’m you’re biggest fan! Talk to me!". Usually I’m too shy or can’t think of anything intelligent to say….
Anyways I’ve met a few….
After a NIN concet back in, I guess, ’94 or ’95, I got Trent Reznor’s autograph… I hate autographs, they’re so cheezy!…we decided to hang out for awhile outside and then joined a bunch of people getting autographs…I think I might have said "great show" or something. He was very polite to everyone, kept thanking them; really quiet.
In ’96 I met Paul Leary and Gibby Haynes from the Butthole Surfers after their show. We were talking to Paul Leary first, he was really nice. Then crazy Gibby came out. It was exactly as I would have imagined him…rambling on, obviously drunk or high on something…he was really funny…we took pictures with him but he wouldn’t let me or my friend look at the camera. We have two different shots with him covering our faces.
About 2 years ago, after a Frank Black show, my friend’s little sister ending up talking to him and I joined them and we all got a photo with him. I can’t remember if I said anything to him…I was really drunk. I remember he was really nice though.
In ’96 I met Robert Smith and some other guys from The Cure. I was SO excited…they’ve been one of my favorite bands since I was 12. I got my Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me album signed by Robert, Roger and Perry. (Okay autographs aren’t that cheesy if it’s Robert Smith!) Roger and Perry were the sweetest guys. Simon Gallop went straight to the tour bus and didn’t talk to anyone. I was the second person to approach Robert. He acted REALLY weird. Really spaced out, eyes darting all around, seemed extremely nervous. My friend Cindy met him a little while after I did and he seemed a little more relaxed. We got a photo with him looking pretty freaked out.
That’s all I can think of for now.. sorry for babbling. [ October 26, 2001: Message edited by: staingirl ]

Cale,
Wow, that is such a cool story! When I saw J Mascis in Seattle, I noticed Dan Peters from Mudhoney was there.
We should start a thread on our experiences with meeting musicians and/or some of the best concerts we’ve been to.Half-Man
Well said!
Hey Jaron,
Really?!!! I really liked ‘ElectricLarryLand’ (the one before last); Pepper was a bit more commercial and more pop, but the rest of the album rocked.
As for ‘Weird Revolution’, every song has that beat behind it. It sounds like 12 versions of a more technoish Pepper. The only cool thing about the new album is the cover. That’s just my opinion though.Hey Cale… sorry to hear about the 21+ venue. I hated that when I was younger! I had to miss Dinosaur Jr once for that reason. (Didn’t stop me from trying though) The more I think about their older stuff, the more I think I should go. And I’ve seen them three times in the past and they were great every time. Well… except maybe for when I saw them with Nirvana…somebody threw a shoe and it hit Gibby in the head , so they walked off before their set was finished. Kurticus7, you should go! Maybe we can compare stories.[ 02-18-2002, 06:34 AM: Message edited by: staingirl ]

Hey guys,
Thanks for the ideas Mattman and Allison.
What a great idea to look through my Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy book! But with work and homework, time is a serious problem. I think I might steal el jesus de gordo’s idea of Slash.
Top hat, curly wig, old JD shirt from Value Village, jeans and ever-present cigarette dangling out of my mouth… easy enough. Maybe I can get someone to go as Axl.
