since you posted the question here and JMascis is a major reason alotta guitar players use BIGMUFFPI! i think thats where you should head…
i gotta bunch of them and as J has said-‘they all sound different’.

as has been said and quoted on this site…the DINOSAUR tour is a form of closure for these great guys as a band. they each have new forums/bands/record labels/ fans to express their own art. that is why they are only playing the old tunes and having a great time it seems…who really knows what will happen if the good times continue
and here is hoping the DVD that they seem to have in mind will make everybody real happy someday.

saw this great band back in the 80s(70s?) the mind b0gles! here in sanfransiskee @ the stone and they blew everybody away…
my favorite WATT story about MINUTEMEN (i think its in that book) was: they showed up to play a gig-set up their stuff for soundcheck and started playin…the bar manager comes over and asks’you guys sound like that?’
and they said ‘yeah’ and he said ‘pack it up-you aint playin here’!

i modd all my american strats
i remove all pots to get the hottest pickup signal to that 1st pre amp tube, which to me is the most important link in a signal chain!

as a musician and music listener i dismiss and dislike anything that gets in the way of the full frequency spectrum output of an instrument or band or orchestra
that being said i value my hearing.
so i weigh the consequences and comeout on the no plugs side.

‘Cyborg Kids’ is on that tribute cd called ‘I Love GuitarWolf…very much’ that came out, its by J Mascis and the Fog-dont know which version of the band tho’.
another tribute record w/ J Mascis that came out is "The Q People, A Tribute to NRBQ’- a bad version of ‘i want you bad’ w/ Ray Mason(?) on bass…

the sound of that rick and j’s jazzmaster-when they lock or even when they go their own way-it such a cool sound…i have heard a lotta rick players but none like that-maybe it has something to do w/ the solidstate amp.
