Here’s a link to the guitar on teh Fender website.
Yeah, Now You Know is a solid album. Everything Doug has done has been pretty good or great. Plus, he’s probably the nicest guy in the world too.
Travis at Clutch Cargos in Pontiac. I know they may be a little too pop for most of the people into Dino, but they always put on an excellent show. Travis and The Flaming Lips are the two bands that their concerts are sort of like a celebration. It’s refreshing to watch a band play, that actually looks like they are having fun.
Happy Birthday Lou!
Saw Built to Spill last night at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit. They sounded excellent. Played a good mix of old and new. Even through in a Brian eno cover.
I love the guitar. It blows away a CIJ Jazzmaster I bought about 10 years ago. It’s not as nice as a Custom Shop Strat I have, but its a heck of a lot closer then I thought it would be(quality wise).
Sounds great too. The pick ups are much better then the ones that came in my CIJ. Plays great, feels great. I just have to get used to those jumbo frets.
The bridge is nice too. A big improvement over the stock bridges. The floating term seems tighter then my other Jazzmaster.
I just brought mine home. Its actually much darker purple then I expected. Doesn’t look pink at all.
All the guys in the guitar shop were checking it out. They all seemed to be impressed with how unique the guitar looks.
I’m off to play it.
mind glow,
just rock it like Jimi or Dick Dale.
Tonas,
No problem. I think we were the only two that liked the Chili Peppers poppier stuff too, so we may have to defend our Tom Petty stance together as well. LOL.
He’s no Led Zepplin, Sabbath, or The Who, but Petty does have 4-5 very solid albums. Thats more then most American rock and roll bands.
I liked Almost Ready better acoustic too!
Tonas,
Don’t be ashamed of liking Tom Petty. I think he’s one of the better rock (not metal/indie/alternative, just plain old rock) artist that has come from the US. Most of the great rock bands come from England. The first concert I ever saw was Tom Petty, around 1981. I was either 5 06 6, and went along with my mom.I just ordered one from a great guitar shop (Huber & Breesehttp://www.huberbreese.com”>Breesehttp://www.huberbreese.com ) in my area (Michigan). They are selling it to me for $820, plus tax. The case is going to run $135. He met with his Fender rep today, and I should have it by the end of next week.
Buying guitars is always such a pain in the ass. The guy in the thread on offsetguitars said he was told $720. I wanted the guitar bad, so I said yeah to $820. Should I try to talk him down? I never really feeling comfortable doing that. If any iof you guys get prices, please let me know, I’d feel more comfortable saying hey, I’ll give you $750 if I know some of you guys are getting one for that price. Maybe me getting one for $820 will give some of you guys some leverage.
Sam Ash has them going for $839.99

Yeah, real nice Kracked, picking on poor Anthony LOL. At least your nice to the rest of us Freaksceners!
Thats cool Tonas. You and I can like the poppy peppers as long as John is playing guitar!
The thing I love most about Freakscene(beside Dino being my all time favorite band) is that people actually diagree/ debate on this site without just insulting each other. Everyone is always cool to each other on Freakscene. Some here like the old chili peppers, some of us like the more recent stuff, but nobdoy has insulted anyone.
I understand where your coming from. I too prefer Frusciante’s solo work to the Chili Peppers stuff.
My fave Peppers album is Blood Sugar, followed by Californication. I like the fact that the bands sound has changed and evolved over the years. I rpefer that to a group that just does the same thing over and over again.
I think it’s cool that Dino is opening for the Peppers. They will get to play to a large crowd, and the Peppers were a very influential band. I would love to see J and John play at the same show.
