        KingTubby,

I agree with you that it is a shitty situation. But I dont think those people are better off if Nike isnt in their country. I think the major problem is the governments, not Nike taking advantage of cheap labor. I find it strange that Nike catches so much flack, but the governments dont.

Thanks for the link, I’ll read it later.

I’ve never seen J wear anything Nike before, and I’ve seen him in concert over 20 times. He usually has Adidas on, or New Balance.

I never understood the Nike backlash. Granted, I’ve never read up on slaveshops or third world country economics. The idea of people working in slave shops is terrible to me, but I cant see people taking those jobs if there were better jobs available in those countries. Those people have to take those jobs because they are the best jobs available to them. It’s easy to point the finger at the big corporations like Nike, but wouldn’t those people and coutries be even worse of if Nike didnt give them jobs?

Just like AnotherGirl, I’ll buy them, but probably never wear them outside. Hell, I bought Dinosaur Jr golfballs, and I dont golf.

I dont get the sell out thing. To me, selling out means compromising your art to make a buck. J’s a musician. How does a pair of shoes mean he’s "selling out"?

The guys an adult, with bills to pay and a family. I wish he got money from the shoes. J’s brought much joy to my life with his music, I’d love to see the guy get rich.

p.s. The Melvins also have a pair of Nikes. I saw them on Ebay when I was looking for some Melvins before.

Sorry about the late reply. I’d had computer problems for awhile, and couldnt post.

Yeah, Im a dumb ass. I have seen him play the teles and esqiures. Mainly during the Hand it Over tour.
                        Take care,

I’ve met J several times, and was lucky enough to talk to him at length one of those times(took him to a couple guitar stores). We actually spent most of the time talking about music. He had a couple great stories about Arthur Lee/Love. He’s also got a great sense of humor.

J is an incredible drummer. My favorite Dinosaur Jr concert moment(and there are many) was on the Hand It Over tour. It was at a show in Detroit, where Mike Johnson took over on guitar, his wife at the time took over bass(she was in a band called Juned, and was actually a damn good bass player), and J completely kicked ass on the drums. They played a few of Mike Johnsons songs from his second album.

It was funny, when J got behind the drums, he started twirling the drumsticks, and had a big smile on his face.
