My wife and I also love the song too. Our musical taste is way different. She doesn’t enjoy the noisy parts, or the sheer volume of the live shows, but she does like J/Dino.She tends to prefer the songs like Please Remember…, Keeblin, and Severed Lips.To me, one of the things thats always appealed the most about J’s music is the ability to go from Sludge to Drawerings, or Bulbs of Passion to Take a Run at the Sun.
It’s funny, Anna mentioned her children love that song, and its one of my 2 year olds favorite songs as well. I think it has alot to do with the video too.
I was cracking up the other day when I heard my little guy singing
"I’ll be down, I’ll be around"
I’d been playing Your Living in my car a lot lately, and he was obviously impressed.
Yeah, the new BTS is great. I like the first song. The guitar tone on "Conventional Wisdom" is incredible.
It’s always cool to see other musicians name J/Dino as a major influence.
May 5, 2006 at 4:18 pm in reply to: Lou talks about new Dinosaur album and new Sebadoh stuff… #116864I’m so excited about the new album, even if it sound more like the Fog.
J’s songwriting seems to have changed so much over the years, at least to me. Obviously, his singing and playing have changed over the years as well, but the lyrics seem so different to me.
It’s hard to explain, but the first few albums were so unlike anything else I’d ever heard.
examples-
Caterpillars munching on the leaves, pitter patter, makes me forget my disease….
Your better then my pillow, because you dont stain so easily………
Bugs have feelers, just like me, and I’m feeling oh so lonely…..
How I tried to warn my neighbor, but the …………..
Lyrics like that were so radically different from anything else I’ ever heard up until that point, and seemed to have a desperation to them or something. It’s wierd, I think J’s songwriting is more mature now, but the old stuff was just so different to me.
But then Drawerings is my all time favorite J song, so I guess I’m just a big dumb ass that doesn’t know what the hell I’m talking about.
I look forward to any music these guys put out. It’s too bad Lou couldn’t have a little more room to express himself, but I know the album will be great.
Will it be Your Living All Over Me great, or More Light great. We’ll see.
Great job.
Thanks,
TomI think it’s a great album. Some of the songs are a little repetitive, but I think that goes with the chant territory.
Please Remember … and Heavy Metal… are probably my favorite tracks. The beginning of Amma What Now kind of reminds me of Keeblin.
Danny Gatton was one hell of a guitar player. I too think J has reached and inspired a bigger audience as well.
A J Series Jazzmater would be so cool.
I remember seeing J play his Rory Strat on the reunion tour. It was so weird to see him play with a guitar other then a Jazzmaster. Then he played a Gibson couple nights later at the Covington show.
I’d been seeing J play live for 15 years or so, and all he had used was his Jazzmasters. Then he played a Strat and Les Paul in a 3 day span.
With Lou-Raisans
Without Lou-DraweringsI just dont get these posts. It’s like going to watch a football game, the complaining afterwards that they didn’t throw the ball to your favorite receiver much.
I could see someone being a little upset if they went to a Dinosaur Jr show, and the band did Madonna covers all night or something, but to complain they didnt play the songs you wanted….. I just dont get it.
The cd does kick much as*!
Its always great to hear J on the drums.
I’ve always liked Mikes solo stuff. That second album is increidbale. The last 2 have been solid as well.
I did see him and the Evil Doers open for Built to Spill, and really didnt like what I heard. I’ll definitely buy the album though.

I would rather just hear J pounding on the drums then what the Markers were playing.
To each there own.
I always thought having Lou sing Dont was pretty twisted.
I think Queens of the Stone Age are pretty sweet. I dont like them as much as Kyuss, but the guy is very talented.
I do agree, Dinodsaur would get stuck opening for all those other bands for the reasons that were already mentioned by FAst EddieClark.
I used to like Sonic Youth, but it grew old to me. I thought they were in total control of the noise thing in the late 90’s when I saw them several times. However, the last time I saw them open for the Stooges, I thought it was a total noise wankfest.
Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I do agree that Nebula would be a good opening choice.

Cowboy Song is my favorite Thin Lizzy song! I would love to hear J cover it!
