Flaming Lips- Bohemian Rhapsody
Stimp,
I wish they would’ve played Mountain Man too. It’s funny, I never really liked that song on the album, but seeing the download festival video changed my opinion. Seeing them play it live was such a rush. They play that song so damn hard. J broke the trem on his strat when he was playing it at the Clevland show.
Maybe they didnt play Mountain Man in Detroit because J is using the strat to play it.
Take care, Tom
Sorry,
I was just going off the set list I got from the stage.
Tom
Heres the setlist for the Covington show.
Gargoyle
Tarpit
Raisans
Bulbs of Passion
Budge
Little Fury Things
Forget the Swan
Repulsion

The Lung
Kracked
SlugdeJust Like Heaven

ChunksIt was a great show, but I thought the sound was a bit better in Detroit. The band sounds so incredible. I stronly encourage everyone to catch as many shows as they can.
TomSorry it took me so long to get the setlist up. I went to the Cleveland, Detroit, and Covington shows. Sound wise, I’d say the Detroit show was the best. In Cleveland, J’s wah gave him problems during 3 songs. It was almost unbearably hot in Detroit, but the sound was so fat.

I agree with Stanner, the tremelo is cool, but I too am I big surf guitar fan.
One of my favorite Dinosaur jr moments was at a show in Ohio on the Hand it Over tour. J was using a tremelo and I believe a clone theory during a long solo. It created a sound, that my friend described as playing ping pong because the tremolo was choppy, and it was bouncing between all the different amps. I’ve seen J live a good 15-20 times, and that was the only time I’ve seen him do that.
Tom
Thanks Bucky,
I just thought that was definately worst cover material.
Take care,
TomThis may be slightly off topic, but how in the hell did that not make it in those worst album covers ever lists.

April 14, 2005 at 8:45 pm in reply to: DINO JR. EAST COAST & MIDWEST US TOUR DATES (FROM POLLST #108629I was hoping they would tour during the summer. I teach, so I’m lucky to have the summer off. Usually I hit about 3 of J’s midwest stops when he tours during the summer, but I’m going to do my best to hit about 5 this summer.
Cant wait!
You’re better than my pillow
‘Cause you don’t stain so easilyI dont think thats what your looking for, but I always thought it was one of the funnier J lyics.
February 12, 2005 at 11:21 am in reply to: DINOSAUR JR REUNION THIS SUMMER (??? – POSSIBLY…!) #107128I saw the Pixies play in Detroit, and I thought they we’re having a great time. It was so nice to see the members of the band looking over at each other during the middle of a song and smile at one another. It was obvious they we’re having a great time in Detroit.
I think they could tell from the audience how much they we’re appreciated and it was obvious they we’re really happy about it.
I never had a chance to see the original line up. The first show I saw was in 91, so I’d love to see the group get back together.
I prefer George to Murph on drums, and I really liked Mike Johnson and Watt on the bass over Lou, but my favorite album is still YLAOM by a wide margin. There was just something special about the original line up, and I would love to see them live.
Tom
I saw Sebadoh open for the Flaming Lips on the Soft Bulletin tour, and when Lou played Poledo, it brought a smile to my face. I’d love to see the original line up play Raisans, Sludge, and so many of those other songs we all grew up on.
