Valentine,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, but after the Cowboys pathetic showing, I was feeling a little down.
I completely understood your post, and knew you weren’t accusing me of dissing the Bears. This post may make no sense at this point, but I felt that you desrved a response.
Good luck with your Bears! I’l still be pulling for my Cowboys, but my excitement and optimism are gone.

Valentine,
Howie Longs Hall of Fame sppech was great. He said that baseball may be America’s pastime, but football is America’s passion. I completely agree with Long. Americans live and die football.
The Bear fans are extremely passionate. I had a few threaten me with violence when I made my road trip to Soldier Field to watch the Bears/Cowboy game, wearing a Cowboy jersey. Most of the fans were great though.
I think your Bears can definately win the division, but not having the Soldier Field advantage will hurt. I think Chandler is actually a decent back up. The Pack definately could struggle with all the new receivers. I hope the Bears win the division becasuse I hate the Packers!
Long Distance,
I think the Browns would have won about 8 games, but Couch is out for week one, and they lost thier best defensive player (Jamir Miller) for the year, so they are screwed. I think the Steelers are going to win that division easily. I see the Bengals, Ravens, and Browns as good teams next year. I think the division is week this year, because barring miracles, the AFC North will only send one team to the playoffs.

TomHalf Man,
Your right, the Dallas defense should be awesome this year. I agree with you completely about the QB play being key for Dallas. I’d never thought about it before, but I definately see the Dallas/Bears comparison.
Who’s your favorite team?

TomLong Distance,
I was just joking around. The NFC has been slightly more successful in the SuperBowl in my lifetime than the AFC. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s the NFC won a majority of the SuperBowls.
Personally, I think the Pats got really lucky. The Raider turnover was a joke. The Steelers special teams lost the game for them, and the Rams would have won if Martz actually had Faulk carry the ball. That said, every team needs luck to win the SuperBowl. I just think the Rams were the better team, the Pats were better that day.
AFC South
1. Titans 2. Colts 3. Jags 4. Texans
The East is the toghest AFC division by far.
1. Dolphins 2. Jets 3. Pats 4. Bills
West
1.Denver 2. K.C. 3. Oakland 4.Chargers
The AFC North and NFC South are probably the weakest conferences in the whole NFL
1. Pitt 2. Bengals 3. Ravens 4. Browns

TomIt may sound silly, but I actually had tears in my eyes when Walter held his press conference and when he died. I was born in 75, so I watched most of his career closely. It’s sad to see your heroes/role models/great people pass.
For years Walter was invincible, only to die in his early 40’s. Your right Allison, it’s a shame. Walter was a great person as well as a football player.

TomQueens of the Stome Age/State Theatre, Detriot 9/13
Los Straitjackets/Magic Stick, Detroit 11/1I called on J tickets for Detroit and Cleveland, but they weren’t available yet. I will hit both shows.
I was going to go see Fu Manchu tonight, but I was too damn tired.
TomI’m more excited about this NFL season then I’ve been in a long time. The main reason for that is I’m a huge Dallas Cowboy fan, and they will at least be an exciting team to watch.
The Bears open up with the Vikings. I think Soldier Field is being renovated, and the Bears will be playing in Champagne. I definately recommend any football fan to take a trip to Soldier Field. It may be the best stadium in all of sports.
I hate the Packers, but I think they will win the division. The Bears will probably take second (it will be tough playing 16 games away from home). The Vikings third, and the Lions a distant, distant 4th place.
My brother and I are splitting season tickets to the new Ford Field. I’m excited to see what it’s like.
The NFC South is a joke! Weak!
1. Tampa 2. New Orleans 3. Atlanta 4. Carolina
The NFC West should be a good division.
1. Rams 2. 49ers 3. Cardinals 4. Seahawks (I can’t stand Holmgren!)
NFC East will finally be a tough division again.
1. Eagles 2. Cowboys (hopefully) 3. NYG 4. Washington (I hate Spurrier too!)
I would break down the AFC too, but all football fans no the AFC is a non factor, amd the SuperBowl is usually decided in the NFC Championship Game.I’m more excited about this NFL season then I’ve been in a long time.
