In my opinion, Bakesale is the best album. I like Harmacy alot as well. If you like more abrasive/aggressive music, I would lean toward the earlier albums, like SYHOTPR or BAS. I wish Lou Barlow would just take more control, because his songs are always the best ones on a Sebadoh album.
1. Your Living All Over Me
2. Where You Been
3. More Light
4. Hand It Over
5. Dinosaur Jr
6. Green Mind
7. Without A Sound
8. Bug
They are all great, but the first 6 songs of YLAOM incredible.Led Zeppelin – I I haven’t played it in a while, but I recall every song being great.
Guns n Roses- Appetite For Destruction
Reminds me of 7th grade, but it was and still is a great rock album.
Violent Femmes- That cd always sounds great.
Radiohead- Pablo Honey- I know it isn’t as good as The Bends or OK Computer, but I’ve always thought that this cd was completely underrated.
Catherine Wheel- I can’t remember the name of the disc, but I still throw it in the cd player evry once and a while.
p.s. Antipop
I don’t want to sound like an ass, I just thought that if you like Pantera, you might want to know a little interesting info. Pantera actually had like 3 albums out before Cowboys From Hell, but they were cock rock albums, and the group had them pulled off the shelves because they were didn’t want them to tarnish thier reputation. The group supposedly gets real pissed when critics mention them. Take care, TomI live near Detroit, and the radio stations here are more open minded than they were in the earlier days of Dinosaur jr. I probably shouldv’e been more specific. You’ll here Radiohead and the Cure on 4 or 5 major stations in Detroit. When Radiohead comes on, it’s usually Creep, Kharma Police, or Let Down; a cathcy 3-4 minute song. Only once in a while do you hear a song like Paranoid Andoid, which clocks in around 6 and a half minutes. Neil Young songs that get played on the radio here are Cinnamon Girl, Ohio, or Southern Man. Unfortunately, I don’t ever hear songs like Cowgirl in the Sand or Like a Hurricane being played. Maybe I’m just babbling. I just wanted to maybe explain myself a little better. Thanks
Flaming Lips- Clouds Taste Metallic-I love everything this band does. A very underrated band.
Birthday Party-Hits- Nick Cave is a brilliant song writer. The Birthday Party were so raw and aggressive.
The Mermen-A Glorious Lethal Euphoria-The sticker on the promo copy of this cd I purchased read, "Dick Dale meets Sonic Youth". I now listen to the Mermen more than I listen to Dick Dale and Sonic Youth. J, Jimi, and Jim Thomas (Mermen) are my favorite guitar players.
Teenage Fanclub-Grand Prix-Great band, great cd.
Travis-new cd-They remind me of Teenage Fanclub, which to me is a good thing.
Radiohead- OK Computer-I respect the fact that they’ve decided to go in a different direction, but this is the last Radiohead album I liked. I hate fake drums!!!!!!!!!!I don’t think Wasistin is the best choice for a single either. I like the song, but for some reason, I think it sounds much better live, than it does on the cd. From the first time I heard Sameday, I thought that was one of J’s greatest songs ever, and a great single. Oddly enough, I think J would have more commercial success if he were to re-release Freakscene or Just Like Heaven. I think that those songs were released at a time when radio wasn’t ready for them. Radio is more open minded than it was in the late 80’s, and catchy 3 minute songs are (unfortunately) more radio friendly than most of the songs J makes now.
"Misirlou", by Dick Dale – The King of alternative rock covering the King of Surf Guitar.
"All Along the Watchtower" or "Little Wing"- Jimi Hendrix- J covering Jimi would be incredible.
"Kashmir"- Led Zepplin -I don’t know who would sing, but the music would be great. -
