where’s this "fighting again" stuff coming from ?
And a Superchunk cover
he confuses The Cure w/ Superchunk ??Quote:When I got downstairs, disappointment swept over me. Dinosaur’s merch table was piled high with $20 albums and shirts of a band only recently excavated. They even had albums by Sebadoh and J Mascis and the Fog, as if the show’s whole point was to further the careers of the two bandmates. And what else would the point be, numbnuts ? Idiot college writer trying too hard to be pithy.
The word last week was that J was older than Lou. And since Lou turned 39 this year, odds are that J is turning 40.
holy crap. the Metro shows are on freesofree (w/ my pic for one of them
) and sound AWESOME.ummm … the brunette is Lou’s wife Kath
The baby is Hannelore Barlow, of course.I should be so lucky.
Lou told me today that the writer/director is a hometown friend of J’s.
Q.E.D.
Mmmmm … Rachel McAdams ….

indeed. I was there
November 28, 2005 at 12:17 pm in reply to: Volatile DIno Jr rocks back from brink of extinction, Ann Ar #113083I hearby proclaim a moritorium on any preview/review from using "extinct" anywhere in the title !
God, it’s like these dopes could just assemble everything from google as they all are exactly the same. Maybe someday they’ll actually talk about, you know, THE MUSIC.
But I guess redundant press is better than no press.
November 28, 2005 at 12:12 pm in reply to: probably not warranted, but im still disgruntled over DVD #113068I’ll try and get some clarification from The Bass Player tomorrow. I’m confused as well after seeing all the recording at Spaceland, Milwaukee, Lollapalooza & London Koko.
Odds are that Lou won’t know what the F is going on either !

cheers.
I’ll be there for Friday. this after both shows in Chicago

There may be a few others they shy away from but these are the ones that come to my head.far as I can tell, they haven’t played or have only played once or twice …
Cats in a Bowl
The Leper (once, according to Kath. It’s the song I’d KILL to hear)
Pointless (again, I’d lose it)
Poledo (played once in London)
Show Me the Way
They Always Come
Let it Ride
Pond Song
Don’t (played twice – Seattle (?) & London)
Keep the GloveOctober 31, 2005 at 10:23 am in reply to: Has J ever stated any opinions on Sebadoh’s records or songs #112828it’s more Eric’s drumming on Lou’s songs that does it for me. all the fills, cymbol rides & off-kilter beats were very unorthodox, 60s (Keith Moon, Ginger Baker, Mitch Mitchell, etc..) type stuff. Listen to "Forced Love", "Sacred Attention" or "Cliche" and you’ll hear it. To go from that to Bob Fay was just …. eh.
October 27, 2005 at 2:44 pm in reply to: Has J ever stated any opinions on Sebadoh’s records or songs #112825I believe J prefers Sebadoh Mark I w/ Eric. Or so I’ve heard.
obviously incomplete info. Why would they have filmed the entire US & Euro tours if they weren’t planning on using it ?
I was there. About 20 yds back just to the left of the center alleyway to the lighting/soundboard. The set was great even though it was friggin’ hot, dusty and a little short. Some dude passed out and convulsed right next to me.
J looks 1-legged in that photo ! The funny thing is the "you’d believe nothing had ever changed from those early more enthusiastic days" statement when the early days were usually anything but ! As Lou said, they actually had fun this tour.

It was a great show. thanks for the review.
