I just emailed paypal to find out about getting my money back. Hopefully I do. If anything at least I got some fake Dinosaur Jr shoes off the web. I really hope this works out, because it sucks.
Unfortunately, you’re probably screwed. If the auction says that they are not real, then PayPal will tell you to go F yourself. I got screwed out of $175 on a counterfeit Nike golf driver back in October by a scammer in China that had hijacked a valid eBay account (google "Jingbo Han" and you’ll see). There are only two ways to dispute a payment in PayPal:
1 – "Item not received"; obvious if you never get it
2 – "Item not as described"; if the auction did, in fact, say "grade A replica", then it is as described. You can try and file under this, but don’t hold your breath. My full ordeal is at http://www.paypalsucks.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=21188&fid=5″>http://www.paypalsucks.com/forums/showt … 1188&fid=5

I just found a dub I made from my tape to DVD. If anyone wants one, I’d be willing to mail LIMITED (ie ~5) copies out to people. You could then disseminate it as you like.
PM me your address if you’re interested.
Tarpit. The total fuzz/roar of the bass pretty much drowns out J for the whole song. Kind of a microcosm of Lou’s playing style.
Cat’s in a Bowl is pretty cool w/ its rockabilly beat.

October 6, 2006 at 9:40 am in reply to: Dinosaur Jr Gear Stolen (Long Island City, NY) [CALL FOR HEL #121238actually, it looks newer than J’s and has a whole other rig on the right side that J’s doesn’t have.
I haven’t heard anything really specific re: the stolen gear slowing things down. The latest recording sessions are indeed taking a bit longer than they were originally intended (hence leading to a bit of homesickness for LA) but I didn’t pry about the reasons why this was the case. I think things are going OK but I’d bet if you actually added up the total time they’ve spent working so far it would only be 4,5,6 weeks, maybe. It’s not like they’ve been holed up in a studio for the last 3 years making "Use Your Illusion I & II"
