Lots of grunge. In high school I was way into The Screaming Trees, Mudhoney, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and a bunch of other local bands you probably wouldn’t know. Remember though these bands weren’t BIG yet and I saw them at small clubs. They really got me into playing guitar again and writing my own shit. When I got the band together there was another local band (that was from my town Tacoma) that we knew called Seaweed. They were signed to Sub Pop and it was like shit if they could do it we can too.
Early on we were influenced heavily by Dinosaur Jr, Smashing Pumkins, Nirvana and such, but over time the sound just evolved. By the end of it we were getting compared to Sunny Day Real Estate, Seaweed, and some Emo bands. I’m not sure how it happened but it just did. This time around I’m going to be more concious of the sound and what / who it sounds like. The new stuff is a little more grungy, a little more Dinosaur. If I had to say what I’m trying to achieve it would be the songwriting of Greenmind, with the guitar tone of Out There, mixed with a little Mudhoney, Seaweed, and Foo Fighters. Whether it comes out that way is yet to be determined. I guess in the end I just really hope it sounds like me.

Its not as bad as you might think. You get used to it. Its probably why there are so many musicians around here. When it rains people just stay inside and rock out.
Its the days of rainy weather really. I believe other cities like Boston get more measurable rainfall. Its just really drizzley here. Oh well it keeps the scenery green, which is much better than brown and dead, or concrete for that matter.
The adirondacks aren’t in Seattle; you mean New York?
Yeah Seattle is sweet. Whenever I travel I usually get homesick, I love it here. The mountains, Puget Sound, and the greenery is great. Its true though if you decide to visit only come between July and early September, thats when its sunny and beautiful. Its either grey or raining the rest of the time.
"alicemudgarden_jr " wrote:reminded me of incubus abit in some places (not the singing).Ouch. We wrote that song and recorded it in 97 way before Incubus got super popular. They arent’t even an influence. Ich.
Ah well, thats what I get for sharing. Its OK. I’m glad you liked it at least.
They did Yeah We Know in Seattle last August and No Bones in Eugene on Tuesday. I would really like to hear pond song too, that would rule.
I have In laws in upstae New York (Oneida, Buffalo) and I agree its totally rad. I would move to one of those small towns in a heartbeat.
No way dude, those pictures are dope. I should have brought a better camera to the Eugene show, the clarity on your pics is great compared to the disposable camera I bought.
Thanks for posting them!

I thought about a my space site but the band isn’t around anymore. I am planning on doing a my space site for my spying on birds stuff. Its a little more Dinosaur Jr influenced. I started recording demos a few weeks ago. Its going to be fun to flesh them out. As that gets going I’ll keep everyone posted.
I guess you need to sign in first, then go to the forums, select Music by the Fans, and select My band. Sorry for all the steps I wish it were easier. :-
I got autographs from J, Lou, & Murph last August in Seattle. So I wasn’t looking for them this time around. The west coast is rad, its way laid back. I don’t know Oregon or California that well so I can’t help you with places to go. Sorry.
Thanks for the advice about the pics, I’ll try to do that this weekend.

I saw my dream reunion when KISS reunited in 96 with the original members in make up. Fucking Awesome! It sucks now that Gene and Paul hired Ace and Peter imposters to tour with them.

Mike Johnson was a replacement though, he had to know going in that there was a big back catalogue for him to learn. With Lou there’s a little more respect involved.
Don’t get me wrong its awesome to hear them play the Wagon. I can’t wait to see it tonight!
With Lou – The Lung
With Out – Yeah Out There is pretty damn good.Happy Birthday Dude!
