My wife and I have completely different tastes in music. While I like stuff that isn’t popular and doesn’t get played on commercial radio, she’s all into Top 40. Ick. She consistently accuses me of influencing the kids to like "my kind" of music. I just tell her that the kids know crap when they hear it.
Not many of my freinds got into Dinosaur either. While they like alot of the other stuff I do, Dinosaur was never one of them. Thats cool though, if there was 1 band I could choose to be mine it would be Dinosaur. And within my group of freinds thats how it is.
So its ok that none of your freinds are into it…………. We still have each other.
(LOL)I hope Forget the Swan gets posted somewhere. I would love to see it again. Lou’s voice sounded so rad, and J’s solo at the end ruled.
That performance last night was great! I wondered how it would sound because they play so loud, but the Rollins show had the mix down pat. It sounded so good, I still can’t get over it. It would have been nice to hear a new song though.
Quote:Ah, Keith Moon’s ok. But, he couldn’t even think about hanging with heavyweights like Neil Peart and Stewart Copeland. Neil Peart’s the best ever, IMHO.
I’m not a fan of Neil Peart either I think he’s over rated. Stewart Copeland however is the Sh!t. He would probably have my vote for best drummer ever.

Its tough because there are so many rad drummers these days (Daney Carey – Tool, Matt Cameron – Soundgarden, Taylor Hawkins – Foo Fighters). I bet any one of those guys could give Neil a run for his money.
Quote:And John Paul Jones is waaaaaaayyyyyyyy underrated but, him writing for Jimmy Page is an untruth.I heard John Paul say in an interview that he wrote a lot of those riffs. He said you can tell which ones he wrote because they’re more rythmic. Whatever that means.
No way Zepplins the greatest. Granted Jimmy wrote more hits than I ever will, but Jimmy Page was a sloppy guitar player. No way he’s the best. On the other hand Bonham pretty much invented Rock drumming, and was awesome. He could be the best with some stiff competition from guys like Keith Moon (both of which were fucking crazy).
Zepplin were good but not the best, I would still rank the Beatles higher than Zep.
I know its crazy. Jimmy Page gets credit for writing a ton of killer guitar riffs, only problem is that John Paul Jones wrote half of them. :-

It took me a while to get into them. I didn’t like em’ when I was in high school, or my early 20’s. Its only been recently that I’ve started listening to them. They’re an aquired taste I guess.
Adam and the Ants – Prince Charming
Great find Anna! That was totally rad. It was cool to hear Watt play it, he plays it a bit different than Lou does for sure.

Thanks I have a go at this one tonight.

Amen Brotha’! I’ve never really liked them.
Quote:U gonna get yer son a guitar, Tonas? (if that is your real name)The real name is Tony, Tonas (pronounced like Jonas but with a T) is my nickname.
Yeah, I gave that first guitar of mine to him but it isn’t "metal" enough. He’s been eyeballing a BC Rich at the local Guitar Center. I think it might be a Warlock. I know those things suck but if he’s into it………
I taught him how to play the begining of One by Metalica and Sabbath’s Iron Man. While he likes Dinosaur Jr and a lot of the other bands I’m into, he really loves Metal for some reason. I can’t blame him I loved that shit too when I was his age.
Maybe this Christmas he’ll get lucky.
I got a guitar (Peavey Patriot) and a little Peavey practice amp for Christmas 1985. I began lessons in January of 1986. I took lessons for a few years on and off and have been playing ever since. I was in the 6th grade when I started. I really didn’t play that much for the first couple of years because I was so into sports, and typical little kid stuff. Around 10th grade (15 or 16) is when I got full blown into guitar. At the time I was seeing all these local bands play in these small clubs that made me want to play to. You may have geard of some of them as they got huge a few years later (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden).
So I guess as of this last January I’ve been playing for 20 years, wow I hadn’t thought about it before…… Jeez I would think I’d be better than I am by now. Oh well

Last night as a reward for my son having great grades on his report card (he is 10 and just finished 4th grade), we decided to go to our local club for the early all ages show. This was no ordinary show, this was going to be rock n’ roll history. So maybe this was a history lesson during summer break, man what kind of father have I become?
Anyway we saw Marky Ramone play 30 classic Ramones songs with members of the Jet City Fix playing bass and guitar. Marky had some guy with him singing all the songs. It sounded great with Marky’s commentary inbetween songs. It was great down to the 1-2-3-4 to starting off every song.
My son loved it, and was super stoked when they closed the show with Blitkreig Bop, his favorite Ramones song. It was way cool to see him throw his fist in the air screaming HEY! HO! LETS GO!
