no matter what it sounds like, the new Dinosaur stuff will be great rock music for sure.
This, and a little Hand It Over in there, my guess…

What happened to Gastr?O`Rourke did`nt show up when they were about to tour with the Red Krayola was the story I heard.Yeah I loved Bitch Magnet and Bastro. What happened with Gastr? I read an interview with Grubbs and he more or less said that what happened was private and personal and not open to discussion. So who Knows? Assuming they’re both straight, I’m guessing maybe women trouble. If they’re not, maybe men trouble. What else could be so private? Obviously, any amount of things, I guess. personal (and especially creative) relationships are so complex .Whatever, it’s a shame.
Too ("TWO") many songwriters in one band. There was a lot of tension between O’Rourke & Grubbs by the end. I read an O’Rourke interview where he said that he had to finish off engineering and producing the last Gastr album all by himself after Grubbs laid down his parts and then decided to drop out. I think they’re still not on speaking terms with each other. :-

Whenever they play here I try to follow them around for as many shows as possible (well, same goes for Lou/Dino/J shows and any other "Sebadoh/Dino-Family" members). I even enter airplanes and fly to shows (I am scared of flying !)…
Favourite albums ? Bubble And Scrape/III/Freed Man/Bakesale/The Sebadoh (that one IS good, no matter how un-lo-fi it is…

(sorry, just wanted to be funny, hah hah…)
Serious, in a recent interview Lou said something like he’d do any song that J would grab out from his song-bag (Feel The Pain etc) and that it’s his job to just play bass…
Personally I’d love to hear something like "Thumb" being played with Lou on bass, but I guess it’s still a long way there…"Coztoad " wrote:yeah pretty cool link funny looking pictures I would love to hear some deep wound I met a guy on here who clams to have all of em and would let me take em from soulseek however hes never on it
No need to put it up on soulseek since you can now BUY it again thanks to the great Baked Goods/Damaged Goods labels… I got my vinyl copy 3 days ago and it’s just amazing – I had the old semi-official CD from the Lost & Found label before, but the new edition sounds 10 times better and, as far as I know, was remastered by J himself… real cool live pics on the cover, too…

Well, Tasmania is not THAT far away from Australia….

Anyway, Mike J’s bass playing is pretty similar to Lou’s, so it’s hard to compare them. Mike may be a bit louder, that’s all. Lou definitely brings in a 3rd dimension with his style that Mike doesn’t have in my opinion. Plus, with the J, Lou Murph lineup we get to see a REAL band, something the other Dino-lineups never quite were… viva the hardcore fan !

Interesting ! I’m pretty sure that J saw Sebadoh even way before 1995… I remember reading an interview w/J where he said he saw Sebadoh play live when Eric Gaffney was in the band – Eric quit in 1993… also, Dino AND Sebadoh both played Lollapalooza in 1993 and when Lou’s amp broke during one of Sebadoh’s sets J offered to help out whith some amps (which Lou declined…). Plus, I have a 1992 interview where J talks about Sebadoh (saying that he likes Lou’s songs, but doesn’t understand the lofi-tag…
). J and Eric Gaffney even played together in Gobblehoof for about one month in 1987 or so…"rambleon " wrote:btw, where was that boat pic taken? My guess is Lake Geneva, Switzerland (Smoke On The Water)… listen to the recording of the Pully show on freesofree.net – Lou mentions how they (the band) spent the day boat-riding and Murph going swimming naked…
January 28, 2006 at 7:55 am in reply to: Japanese Dinosaur Jr Best Of with bonus live tracks & mo #114456The Fuji Rock show was really good. And to hear live stuff from any of the 3 London shows sounds good, too.

It’s true. Everything Lou says is true.

Both Chicago shows (29 Nov / 30 Nov) are up on dimeadozen, also the ann arbor show – I guess it will only be a few days from now until they pop up on freesofee…

Wow, cool, thanks for posting those !
Notice the huge Marshall cab left to J’s speaker stack ! Also, Lou is wearing his old glasses, as it seems (not the big rimmed ones)… can’t wait to hear a recording of the show…

What story ? You mean how Dinosaur ended up putting out stuff for SST
