I wish this could go on forever, and would buy and listen to any new material in a heartbeat, but I believe that the final show posted in the UK may be the curtain call.Honestly, I believe this reunion will go on for a while… I read an interview where Murph says the band has been booked way into 2006. Also, it seems they are really enjoying playing together, so why should the give it up so fast ? And since it has been recently said somewhere on this forum that they are even rehearsing to play THE WAGON live w/Lou, chances are good they are interested in expanding their setlist. I guess there’s more to come… fingers crossed
July 21, 2005 at 1:16 pm in reply to: Hurricane Festival (incl. Dinosaur) on ARTE TV tonight ! #111491They showed Bulbs… incl. interview bits w/Lou, Murph, ending with a quote from J: "Yeah, I gave up (playing) golf – it’s too hip now."

Wow, this band is soooooooooo good…July 21, 2005 at 9:36 am in reply to: Hurricane Festival (incl. Dinosaur) on ARTE TV tonight ! #111490Judging from the ARTE site’s video excerpts they’re showing BULBS OF PASSION !

I’m pretty sure Poledo it’ll be Lou walking out with his accoustic guitar. Sebadoh did a full band version of it (just the 2nd part "like every little moron I think nothing’s real") and played that live many tmes. I have an electric Lou solo rendition where he does the full song incl. the "I’m turning rounder every day" bit. I’m sure he can do it.

I thought that might be JLOUMURPH but than on vinyl.I have NO FREAK SCENE – it’s 100000000000% a different recording than JLOUMURPH – NO FREAK SCENE is an audio recording of the 10-17-1988 London Astoria show (with the first song IN A JAR fading in) plus the 1988 Peel Session.
I would like to find out & clarify this… this sounds really interesting to me !
Could somebody send me a copy, either on tape or CDR ? I’d trade back for it… send me a PM if yr interested…

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, could it be a vinyl version of JAYLOUMURPH then

I have heard exactly ONE live version of Pond Song from the 1989 Australian tour, w/Donna Dresch on bass. It’s a cool song, the live version is pretty close to the BUG one, but more R.A.W.
There’s a link incl. a picture here:

I’m sitting on a 56 k modem & have to wait ’till I get dsl acces to upload…
I remixed the London June 9 show a little, and although the sound is really #ucked up I still get a thrill when listening to it. Everyone who was there will agree… (I hope
)
Soooooon…..
"Link_23" wrote:i didn’t know most of the songs, i don’t hve the early albums, just a few songs of it.You have a few songs… on your I-Pod

Just kidding !
Get those albums, if you can ! You’re sure missing something !So, my friends & I just ordered our burgers, fries and bananas or whatever at Burger King (the one around at the Paradiso), who walks in ? J ! I wonder what he ordered…

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about that a lot, too – seems they finally found a way to communicate, on a personal level. Musically, well, yes, to some degree, but when Lou & J start playing Repulsion although Murph isn’t ready yet and so he misses the song’s beginning, that IS a lack of communication, I guess…

Surely an interesting read, but seeing a George/Mike/J pic within the context of a reunion article always makes me angry …

Hey, I’ll try to comment on the songs, as good as I remember…
gargoyle
in a jar
raisansGoosebumps ! Great and LOOOOONG soloing…
little fury things
1st time that Lou performs LFT live !!! I notice that Lou & J sing TOGETHER and start crying emmideately… no shit ! Lou even screams his intro bit…
no bones
kracked
forget the swanI couldn’t see Lou during this one because of the green stage light behind him…
repulsion
budge
tarpitThis was the best version of Tarpit I have ever heard. During the end Lou & Murph tak off in full Sonic Youth-shred mode with Murph rde-crashing on his Ride (instead of keeping the bet) and Lou turning his bass into a machine gun… J strums the 2 chord till the ned…
the lung
sludgefeast
freak sceneHah hah ! Murph starts playing the drums while J is still doing the intro, seems to confuse them all, so J doesn’t start singing after they played the main riff for 2 times…
encore:
just like heaven
does it floataaaaahh… Lou broke a string on his Rickenbacker. Switched to his Firebird (he used this bass before when he toured with the New Folk Implosion). And off they’re into
> mountain man
Lou misses the first few bars, but soon joins in on bass. Does the lead vocal and screams… they stop, J singing the "I’m a mountain man" bit and they end the show. This was the best show I have ever seen. I loved every minute of it. They are a REAL band…

(above smileys relate to what I felt during the show)
