Really? I could have sworn it was Lou… But I had been drinking

Just to clarify: it WAS Lou who sang it. J just "spoke-sang" the final "I’m a Mountain Man" (when the band stopped playing) before the last chord. Oh, and Lou played his firebird bass for this song since he broke a string on his Rickenbacker before.

That’s a good one !

But what sort of puts me down is that too many people just rely on the taper’s work instead of going out and record shows themselves – it’s no big deal buying a MD or DAT recorded and a decent mic… and get started.
Everybody just wans to have a piece of cake, but nobody wants to bake it… in a way. Recording shows is a real hassle – you have to keep quiet, not dance around otherwise you’ll f%ck up the recording, try to get past the security staff and sneak your gear in, worry about recording levels, transfer all the stuff, travel etc. and nobody appreciates.I TRIED to tape it – had my gear set up & everything, but the mic disconected from the MD-recorder… OH NO ! All I have is 3 minutes of crowd noise. $hit ! I have been taping for years and something like that has never happened before… bummer

That show was… SOOOOOOOO… good…I’ll be flying with Ryan Air, too (Wednesday morning) from Weeze/Niederrhein.

(@ flying cloud): if I’ll see you/recognize you I’ll say hi, of course. I don’t know when I’ll get to the venue. I’ll be upstairs on Wednesday, downstairs on Thursday.
Wow, this is going to be awesome…Me ! I’m flying over on Wednesday morning… I am sooooooooooo excited

How can we meet ? Would be cool to see you in person. Anything special you’re wearing ?Hey Flying Cloud,
I was there too ! I drove 3 hours from Recklinghausen to see Lou play… I couldn’t resist ! I’ve been a HUGE Lou fan for over a decade now and I usually follow him anywhere I can see him (planing to see the upcoming Cologne/Nijmegen/Utrecht shows as well…).
Just to correct something: the song with the "Santana Intro" wasn’t ‘Give Up’, it was ‘Together Or Alone’ (the last track on Sebadoh’s ‘Bakesale’ album)… just to point this out. No offense meant

Here’s the setlist – Lou played for 95 minutes. I recorded it on Minidisc, but the recording came out a bit hissy… I may or may not offer this for trade soon…

As for the east coast dates, KOALA will be the opening band – KOALA is Jason Loewenstein’s band and are the perfect addition to the line-up (simply said: THEY WILL KICK YR A$$
) Remember, Jason is the guy from Sebadoh… and one of the biggest Dinosaur fans on the planet ! Must be really amazing for him to open for Dinosaur…There’s smoke coming out of my ears & nose, after rading the setlist ! Like late 1988/89 Dinosaur… wow, I AM THRILLED ! Hopefully I can make it to the London shows…
Dinosaur is the best band on the planet…April 8, 2005 at 3:40 pm in reply to: Seems like Dinosaur will be REALLY playing at Spaceland… #108505"rambleon" wrote:trensidoh, you live in LA … why did i think you lived in germany ?Er, no, I live in Germany, in Recklinghausen (between Cologne/Munster/Dortmund/Aachen – not far from the Dutch border), but I´m so into this whole reunion-thing that I´m heavily into researching any info about what´s going on in Dino-land at the moment. Since Mike Watt is touring over here (seeing him again tomorrow) I just checked the maximum wattage messageboard and came across the Spaceland-info (note that I was "just" quoting from his board; sorry if I didn´t point that one out properly)…
This reunion is driving me crazy, in a way. I´m still sorting out a few details since I really don´t want to miss it, I hope I can make it to the London dates…
April 8, 2005 at 7:49 am in reply to: DINOSAUR to play Hurricane & Southside Festival in Germa #108480Hurricane is in Scheeßel (North Germany, near Bremen) & Southside in the South of Germany, near the Swiss border. Both Festivals are 3 day evemts (10-12 June) and are organized by the same group of people. Since Dinosaur are scheduled to play at Download Festival on June 10, I guess they´ll be playing Germany on June 11 & 12… tickets are about 90 Euros and are very expensive…
hope these reissues cause a huge ruckuss and sales/tours,etc….
maybe there *will* be a resurgence of interest and we will see-B sides-demos-rehearsals-and a full on dvd w/ ~DINOSAUR~ from the beginning…if there is video of the early days that is…

[/quote]A Dino DVD would be cool, indeed – there´s tons of live footage of the 1986-1989 band available, many shows where filmed from the audience. I saw a video of the 1989 London Powerhouse show & I was amazed how energetic & dynamic the original band is on stage, pure passion. I hope the reunion shows are being filmed, but I am absolutely convinced they will be. Japanese festivals are well covered by the press & TV stations, and I am sure the download festival will be, too.

Someone I know who toured with the Lemonheads in 1996 told me that Murph is one of the most straight edge people… well, that´s 10 almost years ago now. I always imagined Murph working in a computer company or whatsoever
"Tom" wrote:I saw Sebadoh open for the Flaming Lips on the Soft Bulletin tour, and when Lou played Poledo, it brought a smile to my face. I’d love to see the original line up play Raisans, Sludge, and so many of those other songs we all grew up on.Sebadoh put out a split 7" with Azalia Snail back in 1992 incl. their full blown electric rendition of Poledo (retitled Toledo) – check THAT out if you can, it´s amazing !!!
BTW, Lou´s daughter was born last week, put a smile on my face… my daughter was born last year´s summer, kids are soooo nice

Oh yeah, Lou´s new album emoh (Home) is out in Europe today (and tomorrow in the US)… pick it up, it´s really good – Jason Loewenstein (of Sebadoh) and also Imaad Wasif & Russ Pollard (of Folk Implosion) play on it, as well as many others. It´s more of a "quiet" record, feat. chello on a couple of tracks – oh yeah, it´s not lofi, but HIFI… !

on the first album especially
Lou`s dislike of The Pixies I don`t agree with but he does`nt like GBV either so what does he know
I agree that Dino does`nt get the kind of credit The Pixies get.WRONG FACT ! Lou has always been a great GBV Fan & supporter (many interviews prove that in which he says that Robert Pollard is an amazing songwriter etc) – you mixed him up Jason (Sebadoh bass player) who never really thought GBV are too interesting…
