Hey OSX, thanks for those pictures, they are amazing – I can feel the vibrations of the music coming at me with full force (thanks for the many other great "music pics" on your fantastic site as well !).
It´s cool to see that Dave actually plays the same Rickenbacker bass Lou used for his Dinosaur days…. (I read that Lou sold his Rickenbacker after a Sebadoh show in 1991).

      Thanks !

      :D

yeah, that´s Watt talking about the last fIREHOSE studio album, Mr Machinery Operator on which J also plays an amazing bass-wah-wah-solo (I think on the 2nd track)….

They´re not friends, but they deeply respect and worship each others talents and artistic work. Lou is a big fan of J´s guitar playing, and J has said that Lou is a great songwriter. We are dealing with two extraoridinary artists/musicians who have greatly influenced the current alternative/independent music world, both men have their own visions and created their own personal & unique music world, both can express their personality to 100% with their art (in my opinion) and that makes them so good. It´s a little genius kind of thing for me :D

For those interested what Sebadoh are up to – I caught 2 of their Euro shows last October, and it was amazing ! They did it semi-accoustic, with Lou on accoustic guitar and J on bass, for drum backing they used Lou´s Tascam 4-track and played back cassette tapes with pre-recorded drums (courtesy Jason Loewenstein). They did about 1/4 of Weed Forestin and did those tracks EXACTLY the way they sound on record, it was really beautiful…. Hey, I can even imagine Lou and J getting back together for 1 or 2 songs, Lou has been really pushing himself to "communicate" on a more personal level after all these years of struggeling….

I read somewhere that Lou Barlow´s mom is involved helping children with autissm, but I´m not sure if she´s got something to do with this event.

Before you call, you could also check this link:
                    http://www.sstsuperstore.com

It´s the SST homepage, go to the superstore-section, click T-SHIRTS and browse…. but they only have 1987-era Dino shirts, the Cow shirt is around 1991 (Green MInd – era) when Dinosaur had already signed to Warner´s….

Why do you want to take LOu´s voice away ? It´s just beautiful…. sorta fake Cure-like, it´s really cool to see what influences the band where taking when being formed nearly 20 years ago….

maybe a notice in the cd booklet’s thanklist would make some tapers happy?

                        yes, of course :)
it´s just that some tapers don´t like to see their shows being spread/uploaded/released without their knowledge – I can understand that, recently I flew to London to see Sebadoh, I payed for flight, hotel, tickets etc, it was quite expensive – this is just an example what kind of WORK some traders come up with, there´s a lot of passion involved, it´s just that they don´t like "paying" for recording and giving away their stuff for "free"…. I hope you all understand what I mean, of course it´s an honour to see those recordings being "used" for "PROJECTS"…. hmmmmmm, there´s just some sort of CODE involved (scuse me for talking ´ape-§hit" :), can´t think clearly, it´s Friday – TO MUCH BEER :) )

In addition, I have an old trader pal of mine that I could probably get these shows from if they’re for reissue purposes:

                          (SNIP LIST)

                          -Jamie

Well, some of these shows have entered the trading community through my research and some of these I got directly from the tapers it took quite a bit of encouragement to get these recordings, so I´m sure some active tapers won´t like it to see their recordings released…. hmmm, this is a tricky issue, the music belongs to J, but the recording is the taper´s…. I wouldn´t want to see my Dinosaur-master be released without MY knowledge…. what do you all think ? :?:

I recently got my hands on a German article in OX magazine about Folk Implosion with Lou talking a lot about the same topic (and he´s VERY enthusiastic about J, has no mean things to say….) I should translate it here at some time. AND: never forget Lou has ALWAYS admired J, and J has ALWAYS said that Lou is a good songwriter, so please don´t take anything of the personal stuff between them too serious….

                              Jake – Jason Loewenstein.
Eric Gaffney left in 1993, was replaed by Bob Fay, who was kicked out in 1997 and was replaced by Russ Pollard. ON this tour, Jason & Lou are playing without drummer, the way they played in early 1991. It´s goint to be magic. :)

kind of off-topic, but are you planning to tape the FOLK IMPLOSION (Lou Barlow from Sebadoh/ex-Dinosaur) show at the Atomic Cafe tomorrow ?
