Hi,
The exact info would be:
THE RITZ, New York NY (USA), Feb-18-1989
-the info on the boot is pretty much rubbish
–the part about this being a FM recording seems fake as well – why should Italian radio tape a show in NYC ? Huh ? Also, the sound is too bad for FM – this is a simple standard soundboard recording left ´naked´ – no effects or remixing, also it´s mono and the sound is a little to muddy – it´s definitely not a multitrack recording, otherwise the sound woulsd have been cleaner. I assume somebody had a tape deck attached to the sbd and just recoded it. Then it was copied or whatever and some bootlegger put it on CD – to throw off the IRAA he put ITALY on it – because in Europe it was possible to manufacte and distribute these discs in those days, and Italy always had a soft spot for bootleggers, because of legal rights etc….
hope this is some help.
@ MVCG-17002:
Actually I´m from Recklinghausen (Ruhrgebiet – near Dortmund), but I currently live in Muenchen-Sendling. I am moving back next year (job). I do tape quite a bit, check your PM´s and you see my e-mail. Yesterday´s show was my first MD recording, I have been recording with an analog AIWA since 1995. I also taped J/Fog in Munich 2000 (pretty rough, but listenable) & J in Cologne few weeks ago.
Also have several other shows from Munich (Lou Barlow/Westfield this summer).
Would be cool to hear from you.Tschüss

The Tad quote is hilarious

Saw him open for Soundgarden in 1994 and this huge mountain of a man was standing at the stagefront: `OK, I´m gonna do slamdance/stagedive now´, awesome

The WagonMy MD recording turned out A- – I was standing directly under the left PA speaker at the stage so I picked up quite a bit of J´s guitar sound from the stage, which is cool, because you can hear his picking.
The only bad part was when the woman in front of me started asking me something during Little Fury Things so that stuff got on the recording.
The audience was pretty quiet during the first half of the set, but started chatting through the 2nd part. But not as noisy as in Cologne.
Before the show you could see J through the window sitting backstage, playing guitar and laughing, wearing a purple wool hat.December 16, 2002 at 10:34 am in reply to: Asheton Asheton Mascis & Watt – Mean Fiddler 8/12/02 #84353
In case you want more info:
Lou is currently doing a promo tour of Europe for the upcoming Folk Implosion record – Folk Implosion is Lou´s full-time band at the moment, while Sebadoh are still on hold (not split). He says on his webpage that hs playing a few solo shows in London & Paris. Let´s wait until we can read his report about performing with J on loobiecore.com.Okay, here´s the complete setlist:

Severed LipsJ pretty much did no talking exept for the occasional ´thanks for coming´ – it was funny seeing him drinking from a plastic cup *while* his loop-effect was playing….
before the coda in QUEST he took his guitar on his chest and slap-drummed it for a few seconds, looking very serious and amused at the same time, hitting the fuzz afterwards.Oh yeah, the actual set (before the encores) ended with a long version of Alone.
Come on, don´t take this ´personal´ (everybody´s taking that shitty but entertaining LOU VS J stuff wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to serious) – it´s not unknown that Lou still admires J for his music (READ ´Our Band Could Be Your Life´) – these two very talented guys split ways when they were very young, and you should know how young people deal with personal surroundings (a lot more angry then a, well, ´grown-up´). And Lou was definitely kicked out by J & Murph in a rude way. But WHO F§CKIN CARES ? I love LOU & J more than any other musicians I think off. And Lou took the questions above with humor. He´s not dissing J or anything. Come on.
I´d like to correct something, and shed a little light on the screaming:
It´s Lou screaming on Bulbs, not J (J couldn´t bother – can you imagine J screaming ?)
I´t´s also Lou on Chunks (& Mountain Man, as well) Lou also ´sings´ Don´t (until he had to cough blood) – The Little baby – possibly J (Lou was out when it came out), but hard to imagine. Hit me if I´m wrong.See, Lou has a melody that he builts the song up around, J has a great guitar lead that he´ll hum to – that´s the only difference.
I just wrote this on the audiog. message board, and I couldn´t resist putting it here, as well:
some people´ll never learn – J & Lou have finally settled their ´mind – game´ a long time ago and do´respect each other – Lou is still a Dino-nut and highly admire´s J´s talent – there´s no need to argue, both Dino & Sebadoh are ´different´ bands that are both very good in their own styles and shouldn´t be compared, though both bands make the same music, but with a very different approach – J´s more into the musicial side (arranging & stuff – like Hendrix) and Lou´s more into ´writing´ a classic song – both have been influenced by the same music and took off on their own paths from there – READ the Dino chapter in Our Band Could Be Your Life. They´re not friends, but they don´t hate each other, and that´s a fact, for a long time already.
okay, okay, don´t blame me for this, honestly i think this is a very interesting subject, but the song titles that come to mind are amazing:
puke & cry – something that DOES infact happen sometimes from smoking pot
blowing it – BONG!
flying cloud (….anyway….)
water (pot gets you very very thirsty)
thumb (wash your hands afterwards)
pebbles & WEEDs
okay. i hope i won´t get banned for this & honestly: i don´t like what pot does to me.
in a 1991 sebadoh interview lou says that j recently started smoking pot, but we know what lou went through with j at that period, so this info should be taken as a grain of salt. but: why not?
yeah, of course it should have blowing it, how could i forget that.
here´s my wish-set-list:
