1. Queen – A Kind Of Magic
2. Czech Vinyl
3. I was 10 when I bought that. it represents my preferences in my earliest teenager years. still think it’s quite ok though.
4. no. even if I’d still have it. gave it away or sold it or sth.

hey Allison,

am wearing a purposive (hope they’ll get stronger thereby) and easy-to-maintain hair cut (9 mm) nowadays. but I can put on this face even today, so just assume the hair was away and you know how I look like.

there are more non-German musicians that I’m fond of, but there are definitely some good ones. if you like to check out some German bands that don’t fall into the lederhosen-bratwurst-krautrock clichè, take a listen to those following:

tocotronic
element of crime
(early) blumfeld
kante
deine lakaien/veljanov
the inchtobokatables
the notwist
blackmail
scumbucket
console
funkstörung
readymade

hey Allison,

sorry I don’t have the complete tracklist in my mind right now but it’s alike "Dinosaurs Are Still Alive". it was recorded 91 in Vancouver/California and has ‘Freak’, ‘Lung’, ‘Tarpit’ and ‘Blowin’ on it. I already have it as a cdr but got the original yesterday from ebay for 21 Deutschmarks and now waiting for delivery.

just bought:

Mercury Rev – "All Is Dream"
what a beauty! got it on Tuesday and listened to it a couple of times and it’s getting better every listen. quite similar to "Deserter’s Songs", but more songs on it you get into a bit easier though.

got for my b’day:

Ash – "Free All Angels"
2x Dead Can Dance

gonna have next:

His Name Is Alive – "Mouth By Mouth"
some Juliana Hatfield stuff
Lush – "Spooky"
Medicine – "Shot Forth Self Living"
some MBV
Peter Murphy – "Deep"
Sigur Ros – "Agaetis Byrjun"
some Swans
Waterboys – "This Is The Sea"
Dinosaur Jr – "Wasted Lovesongs"
Sundays – "Static & Silence"

hey Matt,

I have ‘Goin Home’ as my VIP phone ring tone right now. both midis really do smooth with my siemens c35. looped they sound a bit strange though. but thanks for the effort anyways!

it’s pretty cool to have parents that share your musical preferences. I must admit I envy you a bit. music is not the topic I could talk about with my oldies alot as I would call them "not pretty much musically influenced". their interests are quite restricted, they do not really care what’s going on beyond the German border. but once I introduced my dad to Heather Nova, and he really liked it. also made him a cd with songs from Yo La Tengo, Neil Young ("Heart of gold"), Belle & Sebastian ("Boy with the Arab strap), Suzanne Vega ("Luka"), Pearl Jam ("Off he goes"), Nick Cave ("Into my arms") and stuff like that and he enjoyed it but never gave it alot of listenings since I gave it to him for XMas I believe. I remember listening to "Sameday" pretty loud in my room last year when I still lived in my parents’ flat. my father came in with a facial lapse telling me to turn this "noise" mute…

So let’s do so… ommmnnn… häsemähäää…

WEIN live, a version only getting close to the highly intense one on "Out There Live 97" would make the album a must have!

YES, I fully agree! "What Else Is New" should find its way onto this best of album. it wasn’t released as a single, but the same to "In A Jar" and "Not You Again" as far as I know. so why not replacing one of these/both by WEIN? also feel the same with the song to be suitable for getting people into Dino/J. and it also can be called a classic – a major Dinosaur Jr tune!

I purchased this record for a couple of deutschmarks from ebay a few weeks back to complete my collection, and I fully share your opinion, lisa. It’s just not worth buying and it’s far off the typical J/Dino sound. I only gave it a listen once and ejected it after song 3 I believe. Any further explanations needed?

Here’s the complete playlist:

1 Upsidedown cross
2 Kill for Satan
3 Redrum
4 Hanging witches
5 Battalion of rats
6 Bloodmobile
7 Mass in blood
8 The cup

It was released in 1991.

J also produced "Freezer Burn" from Gobblehoof which came out in 1992.
