Man, now I really wish I was at that show. I heard he played the ENTIRE white album, but thought.. IMPOSSIBLE! Guess it did happen huh? THe thing that sucks is that my aunt is on the Northampton Arts Council and has friends at that venue, so I could have gotten in.
What the hell was I doing? What the hell was I thinking?
Man I love The Beatles…
I bought Green Mind, Where You Been, and CBGB’s at Newbury Comics in Amherst, MA on it’s release date. Since I subscribe to the email newsletter, I received a coupon for 2$ off all Dinosaur Jr. cd’s… The price of the cd’s were $9.99 for Where You Been and Green Mind, and (I think) $8.99 for CBGB’s… so with 2$ off of each CD, I got a pretty good deal I think…

They played the White Album, Mark called it Sketchy. Would love to hear it.I don’t know exactly what parts of this are true or not- but a few years back I was told by a number of people that J played at a Beatles Tribute show at the Academy of Music in Northampton, MA. I was told that he played the White Album in it’s entirety- but that seems unlikely based on how long that album really is. But- he probably did play a number of songs off of it.
I have no idea if anyone recorded this show- but it would be awesome if someone did.
I wish i went to that show. I had tickets and everything.

I uploaded the show to Anthony on freesofree.net. The show should be available somewhat soon, can’t say when for certain, but soon.
My general inclination is to say that J probably doesn’t as well… I don’t hear the same sonic qualities in old hardcore/metal versus new… though the new IS heavily inspired by the old stuff, it’s just pretty different. I personally like a few of these new bands, particularly Killswitch, but that’s just me. Of course, I just can’t picture J ever going for a drive down to Springfield to catch an underground show at the Fat Cats ( where many of these shows occured), or driving to Worcester for the New England Hardcore and Metal Festival. Just doesn’t seem like him… BUT he has surprised me on many occasions, so who knows. But again I’d say no as well. I’d be interested in hearing what he has to say about these new bands though, since many of them are from his (general) area after all.
One tie in: Mark Swaeber (sp?), a local musican and music shop owner who opened for Lou Barlow at the Iron Horse in Northampton, was wearing a Killswitch Engage shirt, and (I believe) collaborated with the guitarist of Killswitch on something. Mark has a sound similar to Lou, acoustic, lo fi, etc… so if Mark does, maybe Lou does, and if Lou does, maybe J does? I know it’s stretching it, but seeing this guy with the shirt was a surprise.
The Pearl St. show is now up at http://www.freesofree.com
I’m glad someone out there was able to record this. I was unable to, since I (unluckily) couldn’t make it to the show until the encore. Ugh.
I recorded the show. I’d write a review too, but I’m pooped.
I’ve heard from a reliable source that the DVD/CD deal is still being made, it just isn’t finished yet. Whether it actually is RELEASED is different. I’m hearing this second hand, so you might as well take this as a rumor, though one I concider from a good source.

I mean it would seem that way, plus J. was at the Barlow show @ The Iron Horse on March 3rd. and was there fairly early as well.I thought that I saw him there. That’s cool.
Are any of the volunteers from this show members of freakscene.net? Just wondering… I was one of them.
