It’s great, I never would have figured out Little Fury Things. I can’t play leads so can’t comment on the quality there. If you’re interested in it please buy it so they have a reason to make another.
I think the biggest difference of live vs recorded vocals I’ve heard from a band was a TV appearance by the Mighty Might Bosstones. The guy was so horse and quiet you could barely hear him.
When he’s performing live it’s incredibly loud, his hands are busy playing guitar, he has two pairs of ear plugs in his ears, he only has one take to do it right. It’s hard to hear yourself in that environment. I think he’s less concerned with hitting all the notes or the nuances in his singing. Personally I like the live vocals, there’s more force behind them.
I think someone is trolling Dino fans on wikipedia. This is on the YLAOM page
The album was originally planned to include a cover of Devo’s “Jocko Homo”. However, Devo thought that their arrangement was too “distorted”, and rejected the idea.[citation needed]
Never thought I would see alone and don’t in the same show, too bad mike and George couldn’t come.
yeah it would have been really cool if Mike Johnson was there. Other dream guests of mine would be Kevin Shields, Mike Watt, Doug Martsch, Bob Pollard, Thurston.
I love the version of Almost Fare with Frank Black. The band’s management is pretty savvy, hopefully they’ll capitalize on this anniversary with a Dino tribute album in the near future.
Come with me was almost fare and almost fare was don’t pretend you didn’t know
I had heard some of their songs in the past and it wasn’t my style. However I got to the show tonight in time to see their last couple of songs and they finished with a cover of R.E.M.’s “These Days” that was really good and I’m glad I caught it.
you can buy the MP3s from HMV hong kong 🙂

did the Gigantic ever show up?
November 9, 2009 at 7:23 pm in reply to: "Sante Fe" J Mascis + the Million Dollar Bashers mp3 #133624wow I’ve never heard J sing with that much passion. I wish there was a studio version of this.
I was there too. This was the my fourth time seeing them and it was by far the best. A great set list. The only extended solo was Raisans and J was using a memory man or something and the solo grew until it was so loud that you couldn’t even hear murph. Amazing. I had tears in my eyes after that. I can’t wait to see them again in November.
I even got to meet J for a second after the show. I’m on an amazing high right now since Dino’s been my favorite band for at least 14 years now.
LMAO
