Um. . . the entire chapter is nothing but Lou whining and J being an ass.

Honestly, it’s not just the book, I’m just moving on.[/quote]
September 1, 2004 at 11:38 pm in reply to: is everyone on holiday ? it’s so quiet around here … #104669My home computer has something like 28 different viruses, I’m starting a new semester at university (got my associates over the summer!), and I’m trying to have a semblence of a social life.
Plus I’m having a crises of faith. I’ve read Our Band Can be your Life several times now, and I just don’t like the Jr. as much as I used to. So I’m having trouble sticking around.
PS: Civ II took a summer of my life, I still play Alpha Centauri, but have not gotten III yet.

Oh man, I should have said this ages ago.
DON’T TELL SOMEBODY YOU WANT TO BE FRIENDS UNLESS YOU MEAN IT.
If you want to not be enemies, that’s what you say. And it’s a better idea than staying friends (never worked for me).
I had a dream last night where I was at a Mudhoney show, although they had a keyboardist and female bassist. I saw the bassist walk up the aisle and said ‘hi.’ I thought she was also in The Make Up, but my friends said that was somebody else. So we walked out onto the Loop and down to HSB tobacco company (weird, quit months ago), and they’d remodeled. I ordered from the grizzled hippy guy who runs the place, and he gave me menthols, so I had to correct him.
Then I woke up. The one time I’ve seen Mudhoney and I walked out.

As far as I can tell, you’re up shit creek.
Every library in the local system has an area they stock up on a bit better than others. One has a huge Parent/Teacher resource area, another has a big local history section, the one I work at has a big audiobook section. And one picks up more recent CD releases. Someboy at the CD one has good taste, as they have Guided by Voices, Yo La Tengo, several Flaming Lips, The Breeders, Dinosaur Jr. . . . .
Belle and Sebastian-Books
Mission of Burma-Signals, Calls, & Marches
WHY DIDN’T ANYBODY TELL ME HOW GREAT THESE GUYS ARE!!!

Quote:Two year olds understand time outs, understand losing their favorite toys, understand losing special outings, if done at the time of the behavioral problem. The parents I see at the library are the types who are ‘good mommies.’ The type who get into long conversations with each other about musical kindergarten and french lessons and whatever else makes them better parents than whomever they’re talking to.
These parents usually don’t strike their kids, instead preferring ‘time outs’ and such. The problem is they try to threaten these kids. "If you don’t stop running, you’ll have a time out when you get home." IT DOESN’T WORK.
If the kid actually is given a time out, he just cries and raucauses until he’s out. Or just ignores it and struggles free.
??????
I work around kids all day, and I have to say that I don’t like this bill. The youngest kids (2) and such don’t have the langauge skills to be talked out of something, and they don’t have any sense of time, you can’t threaten them.
I’m not saying "just beat the shit out of them," but a ‘smack’ (local law says you can’t leave a mark, which is reasonable) has been used for millenea, maybe for a reason.
I wish I wasn’t trying to post this at 12:30, but it’s the skeleton of my opinion.
Our Band Could be Your Life.
