You’re right nick, that comment makes no sense, whatsover. God knows what I was thinking. I sure don’t.

Thanks CJ, I really enjoyed reading all parts of that interview and I’m sure looking forward to the rest. I’ve always been into Coltrane, and started listening to Sun Ra a few years back after reading a Sonic Youth interview. If I recall correctly, SY got into him thru Watt (who I basically knew nothing about back then), so it’s kinda weird/cool how these things work.

Well, I kinda agree that it would’ve been cool to hear some new stuff, but I still think best of albums are for best of tunes from the past. Would love it though if some new tunes were put out in the format of an ep or whatever, like Whatever’s cool with me was. In any case, with the seven new tunes that was mentioned, we hopefully don’t have to wait for too long ’til the next J + Fog album appears, and I got a hunch it’ll be awesome!

Hey, just thought I’d inform you that it’s possible to hear audio samples of the self-titled album that J plays drums on at amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/music/B000000ES5/qid=998339575/sr=1-2/002-1341614-9103236

Oh, Ear Bleeding Country’s coming out on October 2 .. that’s my birthday!!

Looks like a pretty good track listing, I think I just really miss seeing Severed Lips on there. Cool though that J didn’t sell out by putting a previously unreleased tune on it just to sell more copies. Anyways, best news is of course that J’s doin ok.

Oh yeah .. the wagon .. everything about that tune just kills. Made me rush off to buy Green Mind (my first Dino album) and life just hasn’t been the same since.

I just love it when something knocks me off my chair right from the start, like the first lines of a song, the first song off an album (the Wagon and Sameday comes to mind here), the open scene of a movie …
Dusted off Television’s Marquee Moon today (whoa, those guitar solos!) and Tom Verlaine got some great opening lines if you ask me, for example:

                          I remember
                          how the darkness doubled
                          I recall
                          lightning struck itself
                          I was listening
                          listening
                          to the rain
                          I was hearing
                          hearing
                          something else
                          (Marquee Moon)

It was a tight toy night
                          streets so bright
                          The room was so thin
                          between my bones and skin
                          There stood another
                          person
                          who looked a little
                          surprised
                          to be face
                          to face
                          with a world
                          so alive
                          (Venus de Milo)

I think we all would like to be reassured that he’s recovering ok. As for me, I don’t think I’ve heard anything at all since that message from J got posted here on the BBS.

Robyn Hitchcock definitely belongs in this thread:

                                  Ted, Woody, and Junior
                                  Were disappointments to their fathers
But they had a way with lather
And they covered each other with soap
                                  covered each other with soap
                                  (Ted, Woody, & Junior)

Listen baby, there ain’t nothing in here but my own sweet mind
If it bothers you, we can turn it off
                                  (Wading through A Ventilator)

He’d never make love to a loaf of bread
Unless of course he found one in his bed
Now frogs are reproducing on your back
And bubbles keep emerging from a crack
                                  It’s not a cormorant it’s not a shag
It’s only something in a plastic bag
                                  (Bass)

I got a dog with the legs are black
He got an aerial strapped to his back
                                  he work by remote control
I sent him down to the water hole
I sent him to get my baby back
Dog comes back and eat some coal
he says master she all full of holes
I say more than usual? dog says yeah
I say never you mind, just bring her here
                                  (Wey wey hep uh hole)

It was in the city of shapes
That she made love to several apes
She felt weird for a couple of days
Pretty soon she got used to their ways
                                  (City Of Shame)

my cousin bruce came round to stay
                                  the father of my son
                                  he tore apart a stethoscope
                                  and pointed at the sun
                                  ‘there’s tentacles between our worlds,’
                                  he said, ‘so i believe’
i said, ‘the man next door’s best friend
was making videos with clean steve’
                                  (Clean Steve)

Oh, there’s so much more .. even better ones I’m sure .. but I’ll shut up now.
