May 2, 2006 at 9:07 am in reply to: Lou talks about new Dinosaur album and new Sebadoh stuff… #116852Quote:Agree but I’ll take it a step further and say I hope it’s more original Dinosaur and less Foggy. I’d just rather these three guys keep a unique sound. I don’t expect it to sound like the 80s stuff but I hope it does sound unique.
I hope its a cross between YLAOM and Bug. It would be great for an album that sounded like that to come out now. Amazing how those older albums have stood the test of time and still sound relevant today.
Yeah, it’s J’s first solo performance. Just him and his acoustic guitar.
I think there probably isn’t too many of us that have it. I heard some of it but haven’t bought it yet. I’m sure if more people heard it they would talk about it.
I just bought my wife a new car and it came with 3 months of XM radio for free. I didn’t think I’d be into it, but I totally love it. I haven’t heard Dinosaur yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear them on XM. There is a classic alternative channel that plays some pretty rad old stuff. I think its called FRED, channel 42 or so. The channel XMU plays cool indie/college rock, alot of which I have never heard. Hopefully soon I’ll hear some Dinosaur, Lord knows I won’t hear it on the FM stations.
Man or AstroMAN? – A spectrum of infinate scale
check out cd universe too, they have green mind and where you been on sale for $8.39! Looks like I paid too much.
Sup Joe, welcome to the boards.
I own Bakesale and Harmacy, Both are very good. I never got into Folk Implosion though.
Quote:I have a Masters. It is not impossible to teach college at this age. You just have to really love what you do and work hard for it. I have never lost sight of what I wanted to be – a professor of literature. I have been in school non-stop since I was five years old and in kindergarten.Age doesn’t really matter so much. I have to be a bit more of a hard ass to get respect from the students, but after the first week or so, they know what I’m about.
I have an old soul. It can be a burden sometimes.
Thats awesome. I admire that you have that kind of drive. Its way cool.
I was looking at past posts and ran across this one.
"For those of you interested in the cover photo, here is some info from the photographer, Joe Szabo
[clipped from email]
Thanks for your email and compliments on the photo of "Priscilla"!I’m not sure where you can get the t-shirt, but one of my students bought one for me in the Village years ago. I’m not sure where.
The girl in the photo is a mystery and will ever remain so. One day as I was photographing at Jones Beach I saw "Priscilla" in front of me and my immediate reaction was to make a photo(s) before the moment changed. I
took a few photos, looked down to rewind the film, and put in another roll.
When I looked up she was gone! …but I had the photo and it is my most sought after image.I hope this helps. I know it is not much but that’s what happened.
Best wishes, Joe"
Hope that helps a little

I just ordered the 3 reissues and can’t wait to get them! I’m so excited.
"rage:man " wrote:there’s a lot of theories behind it, but all i have to say that its one of my favourite album covers ever.agreed!

Ooh Jawbox and Shudder to Think would be rad!
Jawbreaker would be good too.
I’m not sure if anyone around here got into them but Texas is the Reason would be dope to see again.
Quote:I teach English Comp at the U of Memphis. I love teaching, but it can suck you dry. It really is a job and a half with a rip-off salary. Still, I couldn’t give it up for the world.I figured you’d be a little older teaching at the U of Memphis. You must be amazingly smart, don’t you need at least a masters to teach college level courses?
Some of the time lines seem out of whack, like with the Screaming Trees, Seaweed, and the Mark Arm Steve Turner stuff. But other than that its pretty cool. I forgot about some of that stuff, like Van Conner playing bass in Dinosaur Jr.
